Job Title: Senior Commercial Accountant (Amplify Snack Brands)

The purpose of this position is to effectively manage, control, analyze, and account for revenue and expenses within Net Sales and Marketing: 1. Gross Sales (Revenue Recognition)  2.  Trade Promotions  3. Returns, Discounts and Allowances (RDA’s) and 4. Marketing Expenses. Primary responsibilities include accurately matching the timing of expense with the associated sales, establishing multiple judgmental reserve components (in accordance with GAAP) to ensure proper coverage of future liabilities, overseeing the execution of cross-functional processes impacting the accounting/reporting function, and maintaining a sound internal control environment including many SOX controls. Additionally, this position is responsible for the management of the Global Shared Service (GBS) team which performs multiple tasks related to related to the Company’s revenue transactions and processes. Commercial Processes (Sales & Marketing) represents a high risk area of the Company therefore this position will create and implement new processes to report against the constantly changing environment and develop analytical models to assess the status of reserves/accruals  and communicate results to Senior Management, external auditors and various internal departments on a regular basis. This position is responsible for the development and communication of various accounting policies and procedures related to activity within Net Sales and Marketing.



Major Duties/Responsibilities: 


Accounting – Coordinate the timely and accurate execution of the monthly close process as it relates to Trade Promotions, RDA’s and Marketing.  Responsibilities to achieve this objective include monitoring financial systems, analyzing sales and expense activity, awareness of the impacts of inter-connected systems/processes and current knowledge of all relevant regulatory guidance  Establish necessary analysis and reporting to identify and recommend reserve adjustments to Management and external auditors.  Assist with month end variance explanations to management. Partner with Commercial and Sales Finance teams to maintain a current knowledge of customer trends and ensure that financial results accurately reflect any changes. 


GBS Team Coordination Lead – Manage the Company’s transition to utilization of the GBS team. This will include training on multiple revenue transactions and processes. The GBS team will have a dotted line reporting to the Sr. Commercial Accountant for problem solving and cross-functional needs between Amplify and GBS. This position will also support any future integration work as they materialize to support the growth and scalability of the business.


Financial Analysis & Reporting – Leverage various systems (i.e. NetSuite, AFS, HighRadius) to implement specific program and category analysis required to support accruals and reserve adjustments.  Proactively initiate value-added financial and business related analysis throughout the month.  Provide management with various month end reporting reflecting trends and future watch outs in Sales, Trade, RDA’s and Marketing.


Controls and compliance – Ensure all controls, including SOX controls assigned to the Accounting, Sales Operations, Marketing, and Sales Finance functions are followed and understood by the various departments involved.  Proactively review controls to ensure relevance in the changing environment. Develop, perform and prepare summaries to communicate to Management on compliance reviews within all areas of Net Sales and Marketing to ensure policies and procedures are followed and relevant.  Assist in the development, maintenance and communication of financial and internal control policies/ procedures.  Provide assistance to business on any areas of concern related to processes within Net Sales and Marketing.



Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:   


  • Strong Analytical skills
  • Knowledge of accounting and policies and procedures
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Strong understanding of processes, systems, and related activity.
  • Strong computer skills – comfortable using various systems
  • Strong Leadership, collaboration and teambuilding skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with Senior Management and external auditors
  • Ability to synthesize massive amounts of data into clear, concise conclusions for management


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: 



  • B.S. in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent





  • 3-5 years experience in other financial positions.
  • Previous experience working with Accounting, Sales and Finance in consumer product industry a plus
  • Knowledge of NetSuite and HighRadius a plus
