Manufacturing Accounting Manager
Job Location: Bluffton, IN
Summary:
This position will support and provide plant accounting, policies & controls oversight for multiple Hershey Salty Snacks plants in Bluffton, Plymouth, Whitestown, and Bethlehem. This includes overseeing and controlling the month-end close processes, inventories, and fixed assets. Direct the plant's financial operations and assist Plant Management through participation in daily meetings, continuous improvement audit reviews, and BOM audit reviews. Manage the support of plant operations and provide for a sound internal financial controls environment. The position requires a broad business perspective and must work effectively within a team environment to provide actionable information and services to plant and corporate departments. The position will also focus on understanding and anticipating variance issues on the production lines and be the Line Performance Reporting (LPR) expert and champion for the respective plants. Additional responsibilities include leading management of inventories, production analysis, profit plan development, & training and developing accounting employees. The ability to work independently with many different plant disciplines is a critical component of success, as is the ability to ensure accurate reports and analysis under tight deadlines. Additionally, being able to multitask and working on projects with little direction is required.
In addition, the Manufacturing Accounting Manager will:
Plant Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Plant and line performance monitoring and control. Assure proper monitoring and financial performance of the plant is accomplished.
- Partner with Supply Chain Finance to provide the reporting and analysis of the plant’s financial and inventory monthly performance.
- Develop, analyze and report performance, budgets, outlooks and financial controls.
- Perform plant analytics and analysis of anomalies and variances to enable the plant(s) to address and improve performance.
- Assume responsibility for utilizing data analysis created above to determine causes of performance shortfalls. Issue performance reports that highlight performance shortfalls to applicable plant users.
- Assist plant deeper dives into financial concerns or controls as required.
Budgets & Planning/Outlook
- Provide actuals reporting and insight to support Supply Chain Finance
Guidance and Oversight
- Direct and oversee accounting and purchasing activities to include payroll oversight, monthly accounting close, inventory reconciliation and verification, fixed assets oversight, cost accounting, and procurement of materials.
Financial Controls
- Develops and executes control procedures to ensure the integrity of plant financial records and safeguarding of plant assets. This includes regular testing and reviews to ensure proper goods receipts, finished goods shipments, production reporting, cash management, account reconciliation’s, material & parts obsolescence, inventory and fixed asset accounting.
- Ensure compliance with the Hershey Manufacturing Inventory Control Policy
Capital Control
- Review capital projects for compliance with Corporate Capital Control Policies and for adequate clarity of justification, consistent with the facilities’ planned direction for investment of capital resources. Provide analysis for business growth and margin improvements.
Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance:
- Facilitate plant’s SOX compliance reporting and annual testing of SOX process effectiveness.
Skills and Experience:
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and corporate financial policies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Accounting operational experience
- Ability to plan and organize
- Good communication and leadership skills, ability to work with and/or supervise a variety of people
- Strong computer skills (Advanced Excel and PowerPoint)
- SAP experience preferred
- Periodic flexible work hours (Physical Inventories, Month-end Close, Budgeting
Minimum Requirements and Education:
- At least 8 years of manufacturing or related accounting experience required
- B.S. in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field required
- Advanced degree preferred
- CMA, or CPA preferred
