Sanitation and Quality Assurance Supervisor

 

Job Location: Bluffton, IN     

 

 

This is a 12-hour Day Shift position (6:00am – 6:00pm with 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off rotation schedule)

 

 

Summary: 

 

 

The plant in Bluffton, IN is a 200,000 sq foot facility with over 200 employees.

 

Responsible for all quality components and standards within the facility. This includes the facilitation and standardization of all quality processes such as raw material verification, in-process quality inspection, formula validation, quality assurance, sanitation processes, etc. The position will be responsible for Quality Control Personnel across four shifts and lead improvement initiatives in all aspects as it relates to quality

 

 

Responsibilities: 

 

 

  • Lead improvement of the current quality assurance process. This includes quality systems review process (QRS), Standard operating procedures (SOP’s), incoming ingredient inspections, product scoring, addresses field complaints, and develops Standard work instructions
  • Lead improvement initiatives in all aspects as it relates to quality. This includes food defense systems review process, standard operating procedures (SOP's), incoming ingredient inspections, product scoring, addressing complaints, and developing standardized work instructions
  • Support departmental goals and execute improvement initiatives to achieve said goals that align with current business objectives
  • Supporting Organic and Gluten Free Certifications as it relates to review and filing of all daily paperwork
  • Supervise completion and delivery of all COA’s for finished products per customer specifications
  • Responsible for finished product evaluation system and provide leadership to drive improvements in key customer attributes as they relate to Quality
  • Oversee Pre-Requisite Programs for Quality
  • Train personnel and maintain all training records on critical quality requirements
  • Manager on Quality Plans
  • Provide guidance and leadership in situations where deviations have occurred, or a potential risk has been identified
  • Oversees monitoring, verification, and validation activities to ensure that all products leaving the facility meet the facilities Quality Plans
  • Provides guidance and leadership in situations where deviations have occurred
  • Back up to site SQF Practitioner
  • Facilitate and standardize all sanitation processes and cleaning practices
  • Responsible for Sanitation personnel across shifts
  • Lead improvement initiatives in all aspects as it relates to sanitation
  • Responsible for improvement of sanitation department and related metrics including Sanitation Audit Scores, 5s, and others
  • Establish departmental goals and execute improvement initiatives to achieve said goals that align with current business objectives
  • Provide guidance and leadership in situations where deviations have occurred, or a potential risk has been
  • Responsible for training of all affected employees on plant Sanitation requirements, procedures and practices
  • Responsible for the development, training and maintenance of all SSOP’s.
  • This position shall make appropriate actions to ensure the integrity and management of all activities and coordinating all the information for the SQF system
  • Works with the Quality team to execute SQF Plans to achieve/maintain SQF Certification at the facility and meets all Pretzels Inc. requirements related to the quality program
  • Coordinate Customer Affairs (complaint process) to include respond track, trend quality and food safety issues
  • Oversee the Allergen Control Program
  • Oversee the HAZCOM Chemical Program

 

 

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities: 

 

 

  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to improve cohesion of the quality department with other areas.
  • Ability to initiate and implement improvements with limited resources.
  • Ability to analyze the process for Biological, Chemical, and Physical hazards with a thorough understanding of the science and support behind each type of hazard and each step of a production process.
  • Knowledge and thorough understanding of industry best practices as it relates to Quality.
  • Good problem-solving skills and corrective action/resolution skills.
  • Experience with Corrective Action Systems
  • Very good organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills with experience using Word, Excel, Access, Power Point

 

 

Preferred Skills

 

 

  • SQF Practitioner
  • H ACCP Certified
  • PCQI
  • Experience with Lean/ six sigma
  • Working Knowledge of SPC
  • Experience with ERP implementation and integration of current quality processes

 

 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:   

 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of food processing experience.
  • 1-3 years in a Quality supervision role with similar responsibilities
