Production Supervisor
Job Location: Bluffton, IN
Please note this is a Night Shift position:
12-hour Night Shift position (6:00pm – 6:00am with 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off rotation schedule)
Summary:
The plant in Bluffton, IN is a 200,000 sq foot facility with over 200 employees.
Responsible for the operation in all areas of production assuring a quality, cost efficient product for on-time delivery while implementing and upholding the Company quality policy
Responsibilities:
- Ensure proper employee training, planning, assigning and directing of work, including scheduling overtime
- Train and facilitate employee activities including counseling and meetings as needed
- Review operational results to assure objectives are attained in key management areas of safety, housekeeping, quality, on-time delivery, and productivity
- Improve manufacturing methods, reduce costs, and solve problems by utilizing employee involvement
- Provide daily labor productivity information to Shift Manager and Plant Manager
- Promote a team-oriented environment and pride in workmanship
- Ensure that employees are compliant with customer, regulatory, and SQF requirements
- Develop continuous improvement through lean production practices, including completing required trainings, and attending continuous improvement meetings
- Ensure that work areas are clean and safe by performing general housekeeping practices
- Manage rework of non-conformance and WIP product
- Communicate and prioritize daily maintenance calls, including entering work notifications in a timely manner
- Ensure all necessary documentation (ex. Production records, safety incidents, training) is completed and submitted in a timely manner
- Complete sample requests
- Ensure time and attendance for employees
- Complete, in conjunction with the Quality Department, investigations and corrective actions for quality deviations, such as foreign material, metal detector failures, and internal audits
- Complete safety incident investigations and corrective actions
- Assist with interviewing and training new candidates as needed
- Attend Safety meetings and work on safety projects
- Complete required training in a timely manner
- Perform other functionally related duties as assigned
- Serve as a mentor to new hires, ensuring proper training, retention, evaluations, and acclimation to plant policies, procedures, and environment
- Communicate with scheduling to assure on time delivery to customers
- Set and communicate goals for your employees and help them achieve them
- Complete customer complaint investigation and corrective actions for items occurring on shift
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:
- Strong computer skills with experience using Word, Excel, Access, Power Point
- Organized with the ability to multi-task
- Proven leadership skills
- Good problem solving/resolution skills
- Good communication skills
Preferred Skills
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in related field
- 2+ years of Food Processing experience
- Lean or Six Sigma experience
- SAP
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2+ years of supervisory experience
