Human Resources (HR) Generalist

Summary: 

Hershey Salty Snacks is seeking an HR Generalist to provide support for our manufacturing facilities in Kansas City. This position will primarily be located in our Edgerton, KS plant. The HR Generalist is responsible for supporting human resources organizational capability.  This will involve supporting, driving, and implementing HR initiatives to increase organizational effectiveness, build capability and talent of workforce and team, and lead strategy and tactics to positively impact overall business performance and HR metrics.

 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Leads on-boarding activities for hourly and salaried workforce.
  • Supports implementation of talent development and learning efforts to meet organizational needs. 
  • Facilitates business performance by utilizing knowledge of the business and interrelationships to influence strategy and decision-making.
  • Contributes to human resource compliance efforts by ensuring guidelines and policies are consistent and enforced in the areas of FMLA, ADA, FLSA, etc.
  • Manages Human Resources activities such as SAP data entry and reporting, attendance tracking, and leave of absence tracking. Prepares and coordinates disciplinary actions. Manages all hourly unemployment compensation claims. 
  • Facilitates, recommends, and supports a consistent approach to business process and procedures.
  • Overcomes obstacles to delivering quality HR services.
  • Leverages and educates others on available technology, shared services, HR services and procedures to meet customer needs. 
  • Supports employee engagement planning process and administration.
  • Track and report on company turnover and attrition; monitor various trends and make recommendations to HR management and plant leadership when problem areas are identified.
  • Ensures positive employee relations by proactive employee communication, prompt issue resolution and fair & equitable policy administration.
  • Supports wage surveys, insures market competitive wage recommendations.
  • Supports the facilitation of the change management process. 
  • Identifies opportunities and recommends changes to increase performance, reduce cost, and positively impact metrics through analytical approaches, including the tracking of key data and analyzing trends.
  • Utilizes knowledge of business trends to create and implement clear, relevant, and actionable plans.
  • Tracks and develops plans to remove obstacles for success.

  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills (Gather & analyze information, draw appropriate conclusions, generate viable alternative solutions to problem, & evaluate the consequences of each alternative) 

 

 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: 

 Education:  

  • Bachelor’s degree, or graduate degree in Human Resource Management or related discipline required
  • PHR or SHRM certification preferred

 

Experience: 

  • 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources required, with 1 year in a leadership capacity
  • Ability to lead projects to completion
  • Competent in Labor/Employee Relations, Recruitment and Selection, Benefits and Compensation, as well as policy and procedure interpretation.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with others across levels and functions while working on multiple tasks in a matrix organization.
  • Ability to make decisions based on all relevant information and develops recommendations/solves problems, based on data.
  • Must have expert level technical skills with MS Word, Excel, PP and Teams. Additional technical skills working with HRIS systems required.
  • Must have working knowledge of state and federal laws along with practical application.
  • Must have experience in administering FMLA and workers compensation management and unemployment.
  • Ability to facilitate training/learning in large group presentations.
  • Human Resources experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
