Position Title: Packaging Manager / Gerente de Empaque
Location: Guadalajara, Jalisco ( El Salto Plant) - Hybrid working scheme

Summary:

  • Position committed to quality and food safety carrying out activities directly and indirectly designing, developing, obtaining, manufacturing, distributing and/or selling our products to satisfy our customers and consumers.
  • Support the BI SR Manager to accomplish results through direct management of assigned staff, and collaboration with cross disciplines
  • Support the lead in-country packaging design, development, qualification, and implementation for Mexico, including coman, export production based in Mexico (US and AEMEA). 
  • Accountable for the complete packaging structural design and development process as well as the finished package quality at execution.
  • Determine priorities, define work and set clear team/individual expectations to deliver against the business and the Supply Chain organization. Integrate internal and external capabilities to resolve problems and deliver superior results whilst ensure packages compliance. 
  • Actively engage with broader external packaging industry to identify emerging technologies or existing technologies with direct application to the confection category. Collaborate with global and domestic resources across Marketing, Sales, SBU Innovation, R&D, OBM’s, Manufacturing, GMA, QRC, Legal, Procurement

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

50% Define and execute training needs for functional areas as needed on graphics, packaging development and project management systems 

 

  • Direct, manage, and supervise the organization to delivering all new packaging developments in Mexico and export markets
  • Ensure projects are completed within committed deadlines and deliver against the overall business expectations and quality.
  • Supervise and assign packaging development resources (Engineers and graphics) to projects, task Teams and other required function
  • Conduct Performance Management Reviews and career path discussion
  • Identify, support, and execute cost savings and process improvement projects  ensuring balance between Quality and Cost.

 

30%    Project Management

 

•    Manages multiple projects simultaneously integrating multifunctional team work delivering excellence in execution. 
•    Seamless integration with OPM  negotiating and establishing priorities in the execution of projects to secure accurate and attainable timelines.
•    Proactively elevate key issues to Business Integration Sr Manager and project team to indicate situations that can drive impact on the timely and quality execution of graphics along with the plans to mitigate associated risk. 
•    Acts as a liaison between internal and external partners promoting clear communication to resolve technical and design challenges minimizing business impacts (i.e. marketing, converters, pre-press)

 

10%    Work closely with the Procurement group to manage vendor selections and project execution, including strategy material and supplier definition, auditing and qualifying the vendors. Work with QRC to communicate and maintain The Hershey Company’s quality processes.

 

10%    Evaluate opportunities to offer Innovation relevant to all Hershey’s categories. Maintain and up-to-date knowledge of the developments with the Region as well as trends in global packaging to include sustainable and renewable packaging materials for possible applications within The Hershey Company. This incorporates reviewing domestic and international trade journals, participating in professional societies, attending trade shows and seminars, consulting suppliers, and auditing their facilities. Also included is active engagement with other regions (U.S., Canada and AEMEA) to identify and leverage synergies.

 

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:  

 

•    Wide knowledge of global packaging industry demonstrated by a high level of technology management translated in a proven track record on results delivering with important impact on business and organization
•    Proven experience to manage professional / technical resources and to foster organization development aligned with the business needs.
•    Strong leadership skill and Ability to work under pressure and deadlines with ability to manage developing risk by taking calculated risks.
•    Prove records of successful priority setting in individuals and functional teams.
•    Proven ability to establish win-win relations to drive partnership relations within technical and commercial functions.
•    Travel both domestic and international up to 20% of the time.
•    Fluent English

Education:    Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering, Design or similar.     
Experience:    5-7 years experience in graphic development, print and project management and technical packaging graphics.
