Summary
Position committed to quality and food safety carrying out activities directly and indirectly designing, developing, obtaining, manufacturing, distributing and/or selling our products to satisfy our customers and consumers. This position is responsible for developing, designing, testing, documenting, and implementing packaging solutions for new or existing products through reviewing, researching and proposing alternatives. Work independently and as a team under minimal supervision.

Major Duties/Responsibilities
Time %: 55%
• Develop, test and implement packaging solutions together with the Project Champion and/or Operations Business Leader.
• Develop packaging and packaging materials capable of containing and protecting the product during production, storage, transportation, exhibition, sales and use.
• Use and define the most suitable material for primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging in a way that is sustainable, attractive to the consumer and suitable for the manufacturing plant.
• Determine the impact of new packaging and packaging solutions on production lines and modify them, if necessary, to optimize packaging operations.
• Design the test plan and/or studies that allow the correct development of packaging solutions. Together with your supervisor or with Sr. Packaging Engineer, you are responsible for analyzing and interpreting results.
• Propose recommendations as the result of their findings.
• Work in accordance with the project plan in terms of scope, times, costs, and business requirements. In case a deviation is noticed, it communicates with the team and documents the implications.
• Develop and maintain a good technical level that allows you to know emerging trends in packaging technologies.
• Can identify areas of opportunity for the implementation of new technologies and packaging materials in new or existing products.

• Responsible for defining the specification of packaging material that guarantees the integrity of the product. This includes developing packaging solutions that maximize the quality and shelf life in balance with the impact on costs.
• Issue accurate information on packaging materials such as specifications, mechanical drawings, reports, etc.
• Implement testing and analysis procedures for packaging materials.
• Participate in value analysis to identify cost reduction in conjunction with purchases, Engineering, Marketing, Production, Quality, among others.
• Identify, develop, implement and participate in initiatives that improve efficiency, increase the capacity of the line and/or reduce costs without compromising the quality and integrity of the product.
• Proposes new packaging options according to brand strategies and business needs.

• Create, review and/or issue product specifications (packaging guides) and manufacturing manuals.
• Develop BOMs and keep the project management system (PLM) up to date.
• Review together with quality the cause of recurring failures in packaging materials, develop and implement corrective action plans.
• Participate in sessions of ideas and sessions with Marketing to develop new product or packaging concepts aligned with the customer's requirements and consumer needs.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Specific Knowledge:
• Extensive theoretical and practical knowledge of packaging and its principles.
• Minimum 90% English
• Management of specialized packaging software such as Tops.
• Desirable handling Auto CAD and/or Illustrator
• Basic knowledge of printing systems
• Knowledge about packaging equipment
• Basic knowledge about food preservation
• Good manufacturing practices (GMP's)

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Education: Chemical Engineering, Mechanics, Industrial, Degree in Graphic Design, Industrial or related.
Experience: Minimum 4 years of experience in the development of rigid and flexible packaging materials.
Knowledge about good manufacturing practices.
Intermediate knowledge about packaged methods.
