Sr Manager Engineering Canada Plant

Role Overview:
The Senior Manager, Engineering Programs is a key member of the Canadian Plants leadership team. Reporting to the Manufacturing Director for Canadian operations, this role provides strategic and operational leadership for engineering initiatives across multiple sites. Working closely with local management and corporate engineering stakeholders, the Senior Manager ensures alignment with global standards while driving program excellence.
This position oversees critical engineering programs including Skills Diversification, External Engineering Partnerships, Performance-Driven Projects, and Engineering Mentorship. The role also manages a team of Engineering Specialists, ensuring they have the technical expertise and development opportunities required to support complex projects and sustain the department’s growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Manage and develop a team of seven Engineering Specialists. Assign resources to projects based on technical requirements and business priorities.
- Skills Development: Implement and maintain a structured approach to skill diversification, certification training, and mentorship to build a broad technical capability within the team.
- Program Delivery: Oversee engineering program execution across Canadian plants, ensuring projects meet timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Budget and Asset Management: Prepare and manage annual budgets for capital projects, building maintenance, and asset renewal. Optimize idle asset value through redeployment, sale, or disposal. Maintain accurate inventory and ensure compliance with accounting procedures.
- Safety and Compliance: Guarantee that all capital projects adhere to stringent safety and food safety standards.
- External Partnerships: Manage relationships with external engineering firms to support project delivery and technical requirements.
- Global Collaboration: Work with colleagues in the US and globally to harmonize engineering standards and leverage governance structures for program consistency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or 10+ years of management experience (in food processing is a plus).
- Registered member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
- Ability to lead complex projects and manage budgets and timelines.
- Strong leadership with the ability to coach and develop talent.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and ensure smooth coordination of business activities.
