How will you fit in the big picture?
As the Environmental, Health and Safety Manager, you will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Hershey’s environmental, health, safety, and emergency preparedness programs. This role is responsible for creating and sustaining a world-class safety culture that protects our people, supports operational excellence, and ensures compliance with regulatory and company requirements. You will partner closely with plant leadership and cross-functional teams to drive proactive risk management and environmental stewardship across manufacturing operations.
What will you do?
Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and Safety Management Systems (SMS).
Develop and execute EHS strategies that drive best-in-class safety, health, and environmental performance.
Analyze EHS performance metrics and trends to identify opportunities for risk reduction and continuous improvement.
Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Lead investigations into incidents, injuries, illnesses, and environmental events, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
Design and deliver training programs that build EHS capability and reinforce a culture of safety ownership.
Recommend and implement process, equipment, and workplace improvements that reduce risk and enhance operational performance.
Coordinate emergency response programs, including emergency brigades, drills, preparedness planning, and response readiness.
Review capital projects and facility changes to ensure environmental and safety requirements are incorporated from planning through execution.
Provide leadership and direction to EHS professionals while influencing stakeholders across a large manufacturing environment.
Minimum Requirements
Experience
5+ years of relevant Environmental, Health and Safety experience in manufacturing, food production, consumer packaged goods, or a similar industrial environment.
Experience leading regulatory compliance programs, safety initiatives, audits, incident investigations, and continuous improvement efforts.
Experience influencing leaders and employees at multiple organizational levels.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety, or a related technical discipline.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong knowledge of environmental, occupational health, safety, and civil protection regulations and standards.
Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
Strong leadership and people management capabilities.
Professional English communication skills with the ability to communicate technical EHS concepts effectively.
