Summary:
Position committed to quality and food safety carrying out activities directly and indirectly designing, developing, obtaining, manufacturing, distributing and/or selling our products to satisfy our customers and consumers.
Direct Procurement Leader for Ingredients, is responsible for the procurement activities of all ingredients for El Salto plant with direct spend responsibility of approximately $30M USD.
The individual will be responsible for planning, formulating, guiding, driving, and monitoring implementation of category management strategies for the assigned ingredients, for El Salto, ensuring quality of materials, competitive pricing, and adherence to company policies.
This position has a high focus on the strategic work with cross functional units and suppliers to develop efficiencies across the entire Source to Pay Process and create value beyond total delivered cost.
Major Duties / Responsibilities:
- Apply the use of strategic sourcing model to develop and implement robust sourcing activities and processes that meet financial planning, secure supply, quality and price risk mitigation objectives across business units and plant networks
- Support and lead cross functional efforts to develop productivity programs that deliver margin enhancements through Hershey’s Continuous Improvement pipeline.
- Have the ability to interact with team members at all levels in the organization. and influence the direction of the business and align and engage resources that are outside their area of responsibility; Prepare monthly ingredients price projections and keep track of total cost of ownership and variations to budget and be able to provide input to financial team.
- Support to business as escalation path for supply issues, quality claims and AP discrepancies.
- Support leaders from Supply Chain, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Quality Assurance, etc. for concept development, designing new programs, discussing product options, providing market education, etc., related to assigned category responsibilities.

- Strong, demonstrated skills and expertise in procurement and/or supply chain management.
- Possesses a deep, detailed, and broad knowledge of the ingredients market and the suppliers in those markets.
- Knowledge of purchasing principles/techniques and inventory analysis and control.
- Knowledge in conducting RFQ/RFP bidding exercises, and negotiation skill, including but not limited to Contracts.
- Ability to collaborate with internal departments, seek common ground and establish alignment on common goals.
- Problem solving and the ability to exercise good business judgment in a fast-paced working environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to prioritize in an ever-changing environment.
- Strong financial and business mindset
- Good knowledge of Excel and Power Point.
- Possesses exceptional planning and organization skills
- Ability to analyze and screen suppliers for financial, supply, and service capabilities.
- Ability to travel (mainly domestic) as needed (up to 25).
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, engineering, supply chain, or equivalent.
Experience:
3-5 years progressive business experience with 3+ years in broad and deep procurement experience, experience of sourcing for food industry is preferred.
