Summary:

The Hershey Company, Hazleton Plant, in Hazle Township, PA is a Union plant manufacturing products such as Cadbury Caramello Bars, Cadbury Mini Eggs, Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bars, Hershey's Milk Chocolate with Almonds Bars, Hershey's Special Dark Bars, Hershey's Candy-Coated Eggs, and Kit Kat, in a high-speed complex environment.

As a Predictive Maintenance Technician, you will work to minimize equipment downtime and life cycle costs.  You will use predictive maintenance technologies to identify equipment failures in early stages and evaluate the quality of repairs and installations.  These technologies include vibration collection and analysis, thermography, dynamic balancing, ultrasonic testing, thickness testing, shaft alignment, etc.  This is a 1st shift position, but to be considered, you must be flexible on all shifts and weekend work.

In addition, the Predictive Maintenance Technician will:

  • Be self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision
  • Be detail oriented with ability to self-manage workloads including providing input to planning and scheduling
  • Under limited supervision, collaborate with predictive maintenance vendors to develop, implement, and enhance a robust preventive maintenance program

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow all safety instructions and procedures
  • Follow quality control standards, regulation, and standard operational methods and procedures
  • Establishes and monitors programs for critical equipment analysis and condition monitoring techniques
  • Reviews of deficiencies noted during corrective maintenance
  • Provides technical guidance for the TA teams and PM process
  • Provides guidance for stock quantities and risk-based stock requirements
  • Promotes equipment standardization
  • Consults with maintenance trades on technical operational reliability and high priority breakdown problems
  • Provides technical guidance for the preventative and predictive maintenance practices
  • Benchmark related industry activities in predictive maintenance practices
  • Serves as the focal point for monitoring performance indicators for maintenance leadership
  • Supports optimizing maintenance strategies
  • Responsible for analyzing equipment operating data
  • Completes route-based data collection using predictive technologies and techniques
  • Supports oil analysis, steam trap monitoring, vibration monitoring, and other predictive programs
  • Dynamically balances rotating equipment
  • Precision shaft alignment
  • Supports troubleshooting complex problems when predictive measures trigger
  • Ensure compliance with established standards in the areas of food quality & safety and employee safety. Identify and implement opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with administrative and reporting procedures while complying with overtime and provisions of the handbook
  • Document notification requests in SAP/ S4 Hana PM. Follow up and prioritize with maintenance team across shifts.
  • Input data into SAP/ S4 Hana and other computer-based systems
  • Analyze information and follow-up on exceptions and opportunities
  • Foster a continuous improvement mindset, elevating new ideas (both your own and those of your employees), and executing plans to positively impact the plant operations and goals
  • Engages with 3rd party support and monitoring equipment including AVEVA PI

 

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:

  • Must be English and/or bilingual speaking
  • Strong change management skills, driving and implementing changes to optimize the business focusing on safety, quality and costs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem solving and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to work with and relate to all levels of personnel

 

 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: 

Education

 

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED

 

Experience:

 

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing or in a high speed, complex environment required
  • Experience in maintaining manufacturing equipment is required
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Food manufacturing experience preferred
  • SAP/ S4 Hana experience preferred

 

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Regularly required to work around operating equipment, stand, reach, stoop, crawl, bend, and climb stairs/steps
  • Repetitive use of hands, wrists, and forearms 

 

Working Conditions:

  • Work will be performed within a food manufacturing facility
  • The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required to include but not limited to safety toe shoes/boots, ear plugs, safety glasses/goggles, hard hats, hair nets, hooded hair restraints, and gloves
  • Wearing company issued uniforms is a requirement
