1st Shift Maintenance Supervisor

Summary:

 

The Hershey Company West Hershey plant is a Union plant producing products such as White & Milk Chocolate Paste, Kisses, Nuggets, Milk Bars, Almond Bars, Rolo, Syrup & Cookies and Crème in a high-speed complex environment.

 

Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Utilities Supervisor will direct all functions of the Utilities work force and the training coordinators.  They will ensure that maintenance work is accomplished in a safe and efficient manner.  They will ensure that the West Hershey Plant’s utilities systems are fully operational & reliable as required to support the manufacturing process’s schedule, rate, and quality requirements.  They will partner with key plant production personnel to implement and drive best practices in safety, quality, maintenance processes, reliability, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis in a three shift, seven day working environment. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage the Hourly Maintenance Workforce – Provide daily leadership to the hourly maintenance workforce (Utilities & Maint training coordinators).  Make individual job assignments and track the progress to completion.  Ensure the maintenance workforce is provided with information, tools, and direction to work safely and efficiently.  Ensure the workforce is provided with the time and tools needed to perform a quality job.  Ensure that the workforce follows all plant guidelines for Safety, Quality, GMPs, SAP PM processes, time confirmations, monthly meetings, and other procedures. 
  • Support the RMP / PSM Program:  Support the Maintenance Manager and the Safety Manager, to ensure all PSM / RMP regulatory requirements are met.  Duties will include:  maintaining working knowledge of PSM, RMP, applicable state & federal regulations, Assist in conducting an annual SOP review, coordinating PSM training, conducting an every 5 yr PSM audit and an every 3 year RMP (PHA) audit, and remediating audit findings.  Administration of PSM work orders.
  • Monitors the plant CMMS –Ensure all data collected by his or her
  • employees is accurate and complete when entered into the SAP PM system.
  • Audits equipment BOM and PM work instructions for accuracy. Directs the activities of the Maintenance Planner/Scheduler to ensure all BOM’s and PM are updated, required PMs are completed as scheduled and plant backlog is properly managed.
  • Asset Reliability:  Ensure asset reliability of the West Hershey Utilities sytems through TPM, Lean, Autonomous Maintenance, Root Cause Analysis, and other reliability tools.  These systems include steam, compressed air, water, glycol, ammonia, high & medium voltage electricity, and all building HVAC systems.  This position will also be responsible for managing annual service contracts (i.e. Fire, BAS, etc.)
  • Manage & Coordinate Utilities-related PM Overhauls

 

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:

 

  • BS Degree in Asset Reliability or Engineering related field strongly preferred.
  • 5 years of related maintenance experience required. 
  • Proficient in Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Fluent with RCA, FMEA, and problem-solving methods.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP or other CMMS system.
  • Fluent with Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Basic Understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Program (RMP)
  • Basic Understanding of Medium and High Voltage Electrical systems
  • Strong communication, Leadership, Coaching and change management skills.
  • Strong commitment to customer service. 
  • Willing to work all three shifts including overtime to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation.

 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: 

 

  • HS diploma required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technology-related field is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a maintenance supervisory capacity
  • Minimum of 5 years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment required; food manufacturing
