Electrical Technician - West Hershey Plant

About the Facility: The Hershey Company West Hershey plant is a Union plant producing products such as: White & Dark Paste, Kisses, Nuggets, Milk Bars, Almond Bars, Rolo, Syrup in a high-speed, complex manufacturing environment.

 

Pay:

  • Starting Pay: $39.37 per hour

  • $0.75 per hour shift differential for working 2nd or 3rd shift

  • OT Potential

  • $10,000 Sign-On Bonus

Shifts:

  • Must be flexible to work any shift, weekends, overtime, and holidays

Candidate Process:

  • Qualified applicants must successfully complete an electrical written skills assessment

  • Those receiving a passing score will advance to an onsite electrical hands-on assessment and interview with the hiring team

 

Summary:

This position requires Industrial Electrical/PLC experience in the food industry with knowledge of:

  • Motors

  • Industrial wiring

  • Electro-mechanical drives

  • PLC application software/hardware

  • Servo motion control applications

Also required:

  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills

  • Ability to effectively participate in a team-oriented work environment

 

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, apparatus, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools

  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem

  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes

  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety

  • Accept full responsibility for all safety procedures as stated in the JSA (Job Safety Analysis)

  • Demonstrate self-motivational drive in learning new technologies as they apply

  • Communicate appropriately with operators, mechanics, electricians, engineers, supervisors, and plant leadership

  • Perform business management duties such as maintaining records and files; understand and help maintain work orders, preventative maintenance system, and SAP

  • Work from ladders and lifts to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics

  • Demonstrate initiative to investigate and offer improvements to plant operations

  • Service, clean, and inspect equipment periodically following established PMs (Preventative Maintenance)

  • Safely operate mobile equipment such as fork trucks, hand trucks, lifts, boom lifts

  • Utilize problem-solving techniques in resolving issues with other employees

  • Adhere to LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) procedures

  • Have a basic understanding of belts, belt drives, chain drives, gearboxes, and conveyors

  • Create notifications and follow up on repairs

  • Evaluate and make recommendations to change PM schedule or contents

  • Make up a bill of materials as required

  • Read and interpret written descriptions or engineering blueprints

  • Perform PM and troubleshoot Motoman and ABB Robots

  • Learn and work with programs like PanelView, Factory Talk, RS Logix, Siemens

  • Direct and train others to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring and equipment; provide expert knowledge and guidance to other employees in your field

 

Other Requirements:

  • Follow all safety requirements including but not limited to SDS (Safety Data Sheet), LOTO, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Electrical Flash NFPA 70-E

  • Follow all Food Manufacturing rules and regulations including GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and SQF (Safe Quality Foods)

  • Demonstrate Hershey values

  • Use PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

  • Maintain good housekeeping skills
