Position Summary

The Engineering Director Manufacturing Design will be responsible for managing the program management of the development of the requirements, the design, build and commissioning of a new manufacturing site. This role reports directly to the Vice President of Engineering and will work in partnership with various internal and external teams in the definition of the requirement for each stage of the new manufacturing site. The initial focus for this will be leadership of the Manufacturing Transformation at the  Factory of Future. This role will be solely responsible for executing the short-term and long-term strategic transformation initiative which will drive the modernization and expansion of our manufacturing operations in support of our future growth plans. This role will also deliver sustainable operational excellence in safety, quality sustainability and productivity through leading and managing this strategic initiative.



Job Description


Program Management 
- Oversee, manage, and provide overall direction with regards to all requirements, capital, and Manufacturing Technology Transformation Program.
- Partner closely with Hershey organization leaders to ensure alignment on the program requirements deliverables and program governance model.
- Develop overall program outlines and deliverables, realizing projected capacities, capabilities, technology advancement for cost savings, within the approved  budget and schedule.
- Manage all program partners to ensure project targets are being delivered within pre-determined timelines.
- Mitigate all issues and risks escalated by PMO Team Members, developing creative solutions, and ensuring these solutions are acted upon quickly to avoid further risk.
- Manage overall program budgets - must be comfortable with managing budgets ranging from $100-$400 million.
- Provide timely and accurate reporting of all PMO projects to program stakeholders and senior management.
- Completion and evaluation of all programs to ensure programs meet their targets.


- Responsible for leading PMO Team Members and providing dedicated support as required.
- Stakeholder management and ability to coach, lead, and influence at all levels across the organization.
- Strong business acumen across a professional services organization with the ability to translate abstract thoughts into understandable messages for wider consumption
- Strong knowledge of risk management, control frameworks, processes, practices, and rules.
- Reviews complex financial/business analysis and reports prepared by team members.
- Strong organizational, cross group collaboration, project management, time management and negotiation skills.
- Strong knowledge of program, process, and change management techniques; structured approaches to problem solving, decision making, and business strategy
- Leadership – a demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through successful collaboration with others.  Must include the ability to lead by influence versus position.
- Change Management – ability to lead locations and functions through change by utilizing thought skills and leadership modeling
- Communications - excellent written and oral communications skills that facilitate collaboration across all functions.


Manufacturing Transformation and Digitization 
- Establish and execution of PMO objectives in support of all identified sites and Corporate Goals and objectives.
- Knowledge of food processing/GMP techniques, process improvements, and materials management
- Working knowledge of all disciplines within the supply chain
- Implement digitalization projects aligned to and the advancement of The Hershey Company Digital Factory Roadmap.
- Lead the development  and integration of the Factory OT / Architecture including Manufacturing Execution System from factory floor through to ERP.
- Lead the Factory Design for the use and implementation  of  the latest automation equipment and systems.

Educate senior management on latest technologies and opportunities to implement them.



Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

Experience 10-15 Years in engineering project management and manufacturing. Experience with leading large factory project scope development through commissioning.

Travel required approximately 40-50%

Licenses / Certifications PMP preferred
