Job Summary:

The Manager will have global responsibility for the administration and analysis of the Corporation’s short- and long-term incentive compensation programs as well as the deferred compensation plan.  The Manager will be required to develop a global understanding of tax implications and legal restrictions on awarding RSUs, stock options and PSUs in each country in which Hershey operates. The position will also have responsibility for Board of Directors’ compensation, including working independently to calculate and maintain all Directors’ deferred compensation records. This Manager is responsible for the development and accuracy of Executive Compensation presentations, reports, and participant communications. The Manager will be responsible for staying abreast of SEC Proxy requirements and the annual preparation of all executive compensation tables and footnotes in the Company’s annual Proxy Statement. This position will play a key role in the reengineering of executive compensation programs and development of new programs to

Role Responsibilities:

  • Develop schedules required for presentation of information to the Compensation and Human Capital Committee of the Board of Directors. Determine how to best present this information to the Committee. Edit and verify accuracy of information in Committee presentations
  • Analyze and create insights from data for presentation to Senior Management
  • Conduct benchmarking and respond to industry surveys related to incentive and executive compensation issues
  • Evaluate market data for executive roles and develop offers
  • Create all tables and footnotes in the Executive Compensation and Directors’ Compensation sections of the Company’s annual Proxy Statement ensuring compliance with SEC regulations
  • Assist in editing and proofreading of the Compensation Discussion and Analysis section of the annual Proxy Statement
  • Act as a point of contact and at times lead various work teams to develop, contemporize and enhance programs, procedures, policies, processes, workflows and automation related to executive compensation
  • Oversee monthly new hire, promotional, recognition and retention equity grant process ensuring approval and documentation are compliant with SOX procedures
  • Partner with other departments such as Global Mobility, Finance, Payroll, Investor Relations, Tax and Law on matters related to equity programs, deferred compensation, mobility reporting and financial reporting needs
  • Develop program communication materials and partner with third-party administrator on education initiatives
  • Review and ensure accuracy of equity proration statements and equity adjustments at third-party administrator
  • Manage distribution of deferred compensation based on employee elections in compliance with IRS regulations ensuring distributed awards are properly taxed
  • Lead process to determine Key Employees as required by Section 409A of the Internal Revenue Code
  • Independently maintain all records related to vesting and taxation of executives participating in the Defined Contribution SERP
  • Assist in managing relationship with third-party equity and deferred compensation plan administrator

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources or a related field required or equivalent experience
  • International compensation experience strongly preferred
  • CCP, PHR, SPHR strongly preferred

 Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years progressive professional work experience in Compensation or a related field.
  • Thorough knowledge of executive compensation programs
  • Experience preparing annual Proxy Statement reports is strongly preferred 
  • Prior SAP, SuccessFactors or large HRIS system experience is required
  • Equity and Deferred Compensation Plan administration experience is strongly preferred
  • Independently execute responsibilities incorporating proactive analytical thinking
  • Strong project management skills
  • Demonstrate creative thinking problem solving skills
  • Understanding of tax regulations impacting deferred compensation and global equity awards
  • Proven reconciliation and continuous improvement abilities
  • Strong customer service skills accompanied with excellent communication skills
  • Proactive self-starter with solid time management and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to motivate and champion change to execute department initiatives
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel and SAP
  • Must be detailed-oriented, work well under pressure and flexible to deal with multiple and changing priorities
