Our team members are the key ingredient that bring our exceptional food experiences to life. A Pastry Cook I assists in the preparation of a variety of pastries, desserts, and other baked goods. This role involves supporting the Pastry Chef and Pastry Cook II by preparing ingredients, maintaining the kitchen, and ensuring that all baked items meet quality standards.
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prepare ingredients for baking, including measuring and mixing ingredients.
- Assist in the creation of pastries, cakes, cookies, and other desserts.
- Follow recipes and instructions from the pastry chef.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the pastry kitchen.
- Ensure all food safety and sanitation standards are met.
- Monitor inventory levels and report any shortages to the pastry chef.
- Decorate pastries and desserts as needed.
- Assist with the development of new recipes and menu items.
- Requires repetitive motion of the hands, wrists, and forearms. Requires bending, stooping, lifting, and twisting.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:
- Proficiency in using kitchen equipment such as mixers, ovens, and blenders.
- Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Creativity in decorating and presenting pastries.
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
- Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of baking techniques and pastry preparation.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and recipes based on company standards and expectations.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to function effectively as part of a team.
- Must be able to walk or stand for 5-8 hours.
- Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 25-50 pounds. Overhead lifting may be required.
