Part-Time Technician

Job Location: Hershey, PA

Summary:

The main function of this role is to provide support to deliver lab and pilot plant deliverables in support of innovation and other technical initiatives.  This role includes measuring and batching ingredients, packaging samples, working in a pilot plant, and cleaning and organizing spaces utilized for experimentation and development.  Individuals in the role should be able to work basic lab equipment following all safety and GMP protocols.  This role will support technical leads across all of R&D and requires good listening skills and the ability to follow instructions.  As a Certified Part Time employee, hours worked will depend on needs of the organization.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:  
Project support:  Support standard experimental work or the laboratory and pilot plant to prepare and package products.  Assist with pilot plant scale up testing by preparing ingredients, packaging materials, processing equipment, and assisting with set and post-test cleanup.  Provide support to produce sales samples and other large production runs that occur in the Technical Center.
Lab maintenance:  Responsible for organization, cleanliness, and sanitation of team laboratory workspaces.  Maintain inventory of ingredients and supplies.  Maintain regulatory compliance through entry of ingredient/packaging information in the lot tracking database.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:  

Education: High School diploma or GED.  Post high school training or technical/professional certification preferred
Experience: Laboratory or commercial kitchen experience preferred
