How will you fit in the big picture?
The Process Engineer will be based at the Technical Center in Hershey, PA and work with moderate direction participates in the development, execution, and implementation of low to medium complexity engineering projects. They will be expected to demonstrate and apply technical knowledge while building and sharing expertise within their functional area and cross functionally within the organization. A successful candidate is expected to develop problem solving skills and the capability to communicate technical subject matter written and verbally cross functionally and with their manager. They will be expected to influence cross functional teams and build personal networks to provide engineering solutions as they commercialize new products and processes
What will you do?
- Work with multifunctional teams in the development of new products and processes (from bench top to production scale) to implement in a manufacturing facility.
- Understand ingredient functionality, processes, and finished product specifications to identify key manufacturing unit operations required and create PFDs and P&IDs.
- With guidance, design and setup pilot plant systems/tests to mimic the “future” manufacturing system or plan plant trials to validate manufacturing feasibility.
- Provide process engineering support for the development of capital projects, including process design and equipment selection, capital cost estimates, creation of P&ID’s, construction bid specifications, purchasing/installation/commissioning of new equipment, and process turnover documents to the manufacturing plant.
- Responsible for process engineering support, trouble-shooting, and optimization during startup of new products or processes.

Solve problems through application of knowledge and creative thinking to develop new products and processes.

Observe, record, and evaluate experimental data to draw conclusions, identify process risks, determine output rates, and confirm rework/waste assumptions.

Prepare training documents, project reports, and presentations suitable for technical & non-technical audiences.
Minimum Requirements
- B.S. in Chemical, Mechanical, or related Engineering field
- 0 – 3 years Engineering experience. Food Processing, Confectionery, Consumer Goods, Pharmaceutical or related industries are preferred.
- The preferred candidate should have knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), process development/scale-up, PFDs/P&IDs, food safety, and unit operations while understanding the importance of interactions between ingredients and equipment.
- Candidates should be comfortable operating laboratory, pilot plant, and plant equipment and be proficient with MS Office programs. They should possess strong interpersonal skills, strong written and oral communication skills, be flexible juggling multiple priorities, and able to execute projects in a timely manner

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $78,560 to $98,200 per year. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of job‑related factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skill set, education, and training. In addition to a market-competitive base salary, our Total Rewards package includes performance‑based incentives and a comprehensive, competitive benefits package designed to support overall physical, mental, and financial well‑being (as applicable).
