QA Sanitation Coordinator

Summary:

Under moderate managerial oversight, this position requires proven and documented employee supervisory skills, excellent organizational and communication skills, and ability to lead and focus Ware Washing team members on delivering and sustaining customer business needs. This individual must be reliable, respected, ambitious, flexible, as well as being known as a proven team player.  In this leadership role, this individual must have the ability to remain engaged and unbiased when asked to make the unpopular business decisions.  Must be creative and focused when scheduling or altering team member assignments as business and customer needs change frequently in our fast-paced innovative and global technical community.  This position will provide hands-on Ware Washing training, perform audits, complete assigned work orders, clean Pilot Plant equipment and work cooperatively with Pilot Plant Utility employees, on-going and as needed.

 

Main Responsibilities:

Cleaning Supervision: Coordinate the scheduling of Ware Washing employees in 5 areas and ensure that coverage is sustained as needed to support all Technical Center laboratories and Pilot Plant projects/activities. This individual will serve as a backup to help when necessary to collect laboratory wares, properly clean, dry, and sanitize them, and then return them in a timely manner to the appropriate laboratory/Pilot Plant locations. 

This position will also be responsible for the inventory tracking and requesting of all Ware Washing supplies and related Pilot Plant items, including detergents, sanitizer, brushes, cleaning hand tools, etc.  The requested supplies list will be given to the designated Hershey Company Employee.

Audits: Conduct audits the sanitation of Pilot Plant safety stations, sinks, chemical stations, etc., ensuring all Pilot Plant personal protective equipment (PPE) and Food Safety/GMP requirements are met and adequately stocked to support all Pilot Plant production runs.   The completed daily checklist will be given to the designated Hershey Company Employee.

Also, completes and files required sanitation/food safety related building and equipment documentation and audits. Understand and demonstrate detailed inspection reporting and citing discrepancies.     

Training:  This position will be required to train the Ware Washing employees to be fully knowledgeable and proficient in working without supervision in five (5) different ware washing areas, with the ability to provide and sustain customer service timelines to the Technical Community, as required.

Pilot Plant Support: This employee will also be asked to assist with other building-related tasks, as needed, to support the total operation of the facility and all cross-functional teams: Global Technology Optimization, Global Research & Development and Quality Regulatory Compliance. 

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of products and processes (food industry).
  • Knowledge of GMP’s.
  • Knowledge of safety, sanitation, and quality assurance procedures and applications.
  • Knowledge of regulatory policies applicable to food processing.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Periodic off-shift work hours for coordination and review of contract cleaning services of office and laboratory areas and pilot plant.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GMP guidelines and sanitation/quality assurance policies and procedures for laboratory facilities and food processing equipment
  • Ability to work safely with cleaning chemicals, fragile specialized laboratory glassware, and the ability to wear any necessary & appropriate protective equipment.
  • Employee must be reliable, prompt, and committed as well as being a proven team player.
  • Ability to plan and perform work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work in varied environments and to be flexible to frequent priority and schedule changes.
  • Ability to repeatedly bend, stoop, and stretch, and spend a major portion of the work shift standing and walking.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. alone and 100 lbs. with assistance.
  • PCQI certified (nice to have)
  • HACCP trained and certified (nice to have)

 

Minimum Requirements and Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 6-18 months post high school including A.A degree in related field is preferred.
  • 1-3 years relevant experience in food manufacturing or equivalent experience in adjacent manufacturing.
