Job Title: Senior DevOps Engineer, Observability
Job Location: Hershey, PA
This position is open for 100% remote.
Summary:
The Senior DevOps Engineer, Observability is a strategic position within The Hershey Company to drive DevOps methodologies for delivering and maintaining critical telemetry systems that provide visibility into system health, application performance, and customer experience. A successful candidate will be able to approach a variety of application frameworks and bring them up to The Hershey Company standards for Observability.
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
- Deploy and improve instrumentation for monitoring and logging the health and availability of systems and services.
- Develop automation to improve operational efficiencies and system integration.
- Partner with development teams in the design of their monitoring solutions.
- Build and set up new development tools and infrastructure.
- Work on ways to automate and improve processes.
- Ensure systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats.
- Drive a DevOps methodology across key platforms.
- Perform root cause analysis on outages.
- Support initiatives around UAT, compliance review, data integrity, data security and disaster recovery.
- Serve as a subject matter expert working with technical resources and our customers.
- Educate and create documentation on technical requirements.
- Supervise the work of onshore and offshore technical resources
Experience:
Strong experience in building, analyzing, and troubleshooting scalable distributed monitoring platforms, including (but not limited to):
- 3-5 years of experience in a DevOps Engineer role or master’s degree in related field
- 3-5 years working with the following (or similar) technologies
- Splunk
- SolarWinds
- ServiceNow
- Container Orchestration (Podman, Kubernetes, etc.)
- Linux (RHEL 7 and 8)
- Building & maintaining CD/CD pipelines
- Azure
- Ansible, Bash, Python, or other scripting language/tools
Education:
- BA/BS in Web Technologies, Computer Science, or a related field
