The Senior Manager Digital Manufacturing Solutions will manage systems to support innovation, process optimization and functional enhancements to grow the Hershey business, while protecting the safety of our consumers/clients and protecting Hershey’s iconic global brands. The systems are those we use to produce the nearly $8 billion in products for our millions of consumers worldwide and to ensure quality standards are meet across Hershey’s global businesses and global manufacturing facilities.
The Senior Manager Digital Manufacturing Solutions is a corporate IT role that works closely with cross functional global leadership teams to advise, define, and deliver solutions & capabilities supporting the Manufacturing Organization in alignment with the business and IS Digital strategy. Creating a strong relationship with Hershey business owners responsible for plant operations, on-site Engineers, and Corporate IT governance bodies
They are responsible for oversight of Digital Manufacturing projects across Hershey’s legacy manufacturing sites and any greenfield sites. In addition, this role will provide thought leadership for all system activities and projects developing value cases for new capabilities within the Smart Manufacturing digital roadmap, coordinating deployments and improvements, and is accountable for all manufacturing systems: MES/MOM solution, OSI PI, Connected Worker, and other solutions and applications.
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with business partners to advise, define and deliver capabilities supporting advanced technologies and digital manufacturing capabilities in alignment with business and IS strategy
- Organizational change agent with ability to see beyond current situation and to create a digital manufacturing system strategy, vision and road map to advance the digital program together with all relevant internal stakeholders that include Senior Leadership in IT, Business, and Engineering groups
- Provide subject matter expertise with deep functional expertise and solid technical knowledge in Production Scheduling and Execution
- Comprehensive knowledge of upstream and downstream integration layers of applications following ISA95 guidelines
- Responsible for leading and successfully delivering strategic technology initiatives with the S/4 Supply Chain and Digital Supply Chain teams. Inclusive of providing oversight for the execution of programs and projects, program and project schedules and budgets, and reporting variances along with planned corrective actions
- Prioritizing requests for rolling out new technology to manufacturing facilities
- Ensure solutions are scalable and can be sustained with close adherence to reference architectures from the enterprise architecture team and following security policies
- Utilize deep knowledge to effectively work with implementation partners and development teams to efficiently translate business requirements into functional capabilities
- Working with external system providers like SAP, MES/MOM software vendors, Ignition, OSI PI, and equipment partners to understand and act on changes from vendor offerings continuously building vertical expertise, staying abreast of emerging capabilities
- Build and manage the digital manufacturing team, lead direct reports including goal setting, performance management, skill enhancement, knowledge building and career development. Responsible for building and maintaining high performance teams through owning self-actions and providing leadership
- Own manufacturing system operation, ensuring manufacturing system service level to support production for system availability, end to end Integration of systems, and acting as the Knowledge expert for the plants required to support 24x7 plant operations
- Providing subject matter expertise and support to the site coordinators who lead the day to day operations support for the automation and digital systems in the manufacturing facilities
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Technology Management, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Industrial/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Lean Six Sigma / Continuous Improvement experience and/or certification is a plus
Experience:
- 10+ years’ experience in IT and/or platform delivery leadership role, developing and implementing innovative solutions, collaborating with business partners across functions, and delivering within a change management process
- 10+ years demonstrated leadership and hands on experience in the implementation of MES, MOM, or manufacturing solutions with integration back into ERP systems (SAP preferred)
- Industry 4.0 technologies such as Industrial Internet of Things, Additive Manufacturing, Digital Factory Floor / Smart Factory, Augmented Reality, Automation, or Robotics
- Demonstrated ability to develop digital solutions to deliver business critical outcomes in a practical, effective way
- Overall systems and business process knowledge, and clear understanding of current and emerging technologies across a diverse range of platforms
- Possess independent knowledge, skills and experience in computer programming, database design, and software configuration, with majority of skills successfully executed within one or more manufacturing industries
- Excellent interpersonal skills: two-way communications skills (oral and written), ability to build relationships, influence others at all levels both up and down, work with a diverse internal customer base
- Ability to handle a strong degree of ambiguity and develop strategies and concepts for the company on global, regional as well as local level
- Established track record of managing onsite and offsite technical resources through the full software/project life-cycle
- Functional understanding of standard interfaces built upon API, EDI, XML, and IDOC transactions
- Integration of MES, PLM, ERP and various shop floor systems required
- Experience using a DevOps approach to managing plant systems is a plus
- Experience in Consumer-Packaged Goods, Food & Beverage is preferred
