Job Location: Hershey, PA Preferred or Open to Remote (as base location) 

Travel: TRAVEL OF AT LEAST 75-80% (NON-LINEAR) IS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION. Extensive travel is required to be onsite during the execution and commissioning phases of projects, including some weekends and occasional off-shift support.


Role Summary

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Project Support, in the Capital Management group and working as part of the Engineering department in Hershey, PA, the Senior Engineering Specialist primarily works within project teams and requires minimal supervision to lead the execution and commissioning of medium complexity projects. The Senior Engineering Specialist role requires the application of functional technical experience, manufacturing knowledge, and strong problem-solving skills. The successful candidate is expected to possess the ability to think critically and communicate technical subject matter (both written and verbal) within cross functional teams and manager, and influence stakeholders at all organizational levels to implement effective solutions.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Project Installation Support

•Oversee the execution of capital projects as defined by Project Manager and Project Engineers

•Coordinate multidisciplinary contractor and supplier activities for all phases of equipment installation as it pertains to safety, GMP, and engineering design

• Align activities between contractors and plant operations to ensure compliance with plant safety & GMP requirements

•Facilitate communications and interfaces between supplier companies, external technical resources, and internal customers (Engineering, Plant Staff, Co-Manufacturing, Operations Planning, Finance, Warehouse Administration)

 

Continuous Improvement & Lean Principles 

•Participate on improvement teams to develop problem solving tools & techniques

•Provide technical assistance to continuous improvement teams

Capital Projects

•Understand fundamentals of Capital Project Execution processes and policies

•Independently manage projects of smaller scope and complexity

 

Qualifications:

•Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) & Food Safety

•Required to travel and work weekends as a required.

•Demonstrated breadth of experience expertise in at least one type of manufacturing equipment and related operations (Processing equipment, Packaging, Systems Controls, Mechanical/Electrical)

 

Experience & Education: 

•EITHER Bachelor’s in engineering or engineering technology (prefer Elec/Mech/Mechatronics) with 3 years’ work experience

•OR 6-8 years’ Equivalent work experience.
