Specialist Commodities

Posted Date:  Jan 17, 2025
Requisition Number:  124119

Job Location: Hershey, PA

Summary:

The Specialist Commodities Distribution is responsible for the entire distribution process of the commodities which they are responsible for including planning and scheduling movement from suppliers/warehouses to Hershey plants/co-man operations.

In addition, the Specialist Commodities Distribution will be responsible for:

  • Manage commodity inventories. Manage Hershey-owned commodities inventories at outside warehouses. Work with vendor and warehouse personnel to obtain warehouse receipts that are the legal document establishing Hershey’s ownership of goods, and they then enter the goods receipt in SAP. On an ongoing basis, deploy inventory from the outside warehouses to our plants and co-manufacturers, and they do this through SAP transactions and direct coordination with the warehouses. At each month-end, examine and approve the outside warehouse storage and handling invoices for payment, and importantly, they reconcile all warehouse inventory quantities to SAP each month.
  • Arrange and coordinate shipping. Handle several steps in SAP in order to enable the planned deliveries on PO’s or Stock Transport Orders to flow into Hershey’s Transportation Manager software. This enables the centralized planning of inbound and outbound freight for materials that have been enabled in the TM system.  The TM system currently configured does not handle liquid tanker shipments. In addition, not all vendors are set up for TM shipping for truckload shipments. Communicate directly with carriers to establish weekly delivery schedules for inbound loads to our plants and co-manufacturers. This is an extensive responsibility for liquids (cocoa butter and liquor) because plant and producer schedules change frequently and internal storage is limited, and therefore many changes are made throughout the week, requiring close monitoring and communication among parties..
  • Execute PO’s and Sales orders. Manage the quantity draws on the contracts in SAP for commodities for which they are responsible.  Once a contract is in place, a series of purchase orders needs to be created for the individual delivers of contracted materials to plants or co-manufacturers. Create many of the PO’s and they monitor deliveries against contracted quantities to ensure the contract quantities have been fulfilled. An important part of PO management is the monitoring and resolution of blocked invoices and Goods Receipt / Invoice Receipt discrepancies.  Hershey sells major raw materials to co-manufactures for use in making finished products. Arrange for delivery to co-manufacturers directly from vendors, outside warehouses, and the blancher/roaster. They then execute Sales orders in SAP that generate invoices to the blancher for raw peanuts to be roasted for the plants/co-manufacturers. Follow up with the blancher/co-manufacturers in the event of invoice disputes or non- payment.
