How will you fit in the big picture?
What will you do?
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data ingestion and transformation pipelines using Azure, Databricks, Python, and SQL.Develop curated, dimensional, and semantic data models that support analytics, reporting, and AI use cases.
- Translate business requirements into technical designs, user stories, and acceptance criteria in partnership with Product Managers.
- Apply best practices for performance, reliability, security, scalability, and cost optimization.
- Implement modern data engineering patterns including Delta Lake, medallion architecture, orchestration frameworks, and reusable pipeline components.
- Embed governance-by-design through metadata management, lineage, documentation, automated data quality checks, and certification processes.
- Support and troubleshoot production data pipelines while driving operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with domain teams to validate business definitions and ensure data products meet stakeholder needs.
- Partner with Platform Engineering to enhance frameworks, standards, automation, and platform capabilities.
Minimum Education & Requirements
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, or a related field, aligned with Hershey's experience guidelines for senior individual contributor levels.
- Hands-on experience building scalable data ingestion and transformation pipelines in cloud-native environments, preferably Azure and Databricks.
- Strong experience with Python, SQL, ETL/ELT development, distributed processing, workflow optimization, APIs, automation, and source control.
- Experience translating business requirements into technical solutions while collaborating across product, engineering, and business teams.
- Experience working with relational and NoSQL data stores such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB.
- Experience with Delta Lake, medallion architecture, orchestration frameworks, and reusable pipeline design patterns.
- Experience implementing data governance practices, automated data quality monitoring, metadata management, lineage, cataloging, and documentation.
- Experience building curated, dimensional, or semantic models supporting analytics, reporting, and AI solutions.
- Experience within consumer packaged goods (CPG), retail, manufacturing, supply chain, consulting, or modern data platform organizations.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related technical field.
