How will you fit in the big picture?

The Staff Privacy Management role is a leader that will shape and drive the strategy, platforms, and integrations that enable consumer privacy, compliance, marketing consent, compliant data activation, and enterprise trust across our commercial digital ecosystem. This is a senior individual contributor role for a technologist who can move fluidly between shaping multi-year strategy with the Chief Privacy Officer's organization and hands-on delivery of platform capabilities that keep Hershey compliant, competitive, and consumer-centric.

As Hershey scales its ONE Hershey commercial engine and expands first-party data, personalization, AI, and agentic capabilities, privacy technology moves from a compliance function to a strategic enabler of marketing effectiveness and consumer trust. This role owns the vision, architecture, and operating model for how that capability is delivered.

Key Interfaces

  • Chief Privacy Officer, VP Legal, and enterprise Privacy leadership
  • VP-level Commercial partners across Digital Marketing, Consumer Experience, B2B, D2C, and The Hershey Experience
  • Legal and Privacy teams
  • Enterprise Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, Data & Analytics, and Integration teams
  • Implementation partner delivery teams
  • External platform vendors and managed service providers

What will you do?

Strategy & Thought Leadership

  • Define and evolve Hershey's privacy technology strategy in partnership with the Chief Privacy Officer's organization, Legal, and Commercial leadership, ensuring the enterprise moves from reactive compliance to privacy-by-design.
  • Serve as Hershey's Commercial IS subject matter authority on emerging privacy technologies (Privacy Enhancing Technologies, consent orchestration, data clean rooms, AI/agentic privacy governance, first-party data strategy) and translate regulatory shifts into a proactive Hershey roadmap.
  • Represent Commercial IS in enterprise conversations on consumer trust, first-party data monetization, AI data governance, and marketing consent, connecting privacy investments to measurable marketing and experience outcomes.
  • Anticipate regulatory and market inflection points (state-level privacy laws, CIPA/GPC evolution, AI regulation) and shape Hershey's technology response ahead of compliance deadlines.

Platform & Product Ownership

  • Serve as the product and platform owner for privacy and consent management capabilities, including OneTrust, DSAR workflows, cookie compliance, preference management, and related integrations across Hershey's digital ecosystem.
  • Own the multi-year privacy technology roadmap, backlog prioritization, and value narrative, connecting investments to enterprise outcomes.
  • Lead privacy technology initiatives related to Global Privacy Control, cookie banner behavior, consent states, geolocation-based experiences, CIPA/GPC readiness, DSAR processing, and responsible data handling.
  • Oversee integration patterns between privacy platforms, marketing technologies, consumer data platforms, email service providers, data pipelines, reporting tools, and customer-facing digital properties.
  • Support and govern data flows involving OneTrust, Adobe Experience Platform, Azure Data Factory, and related MarTech and privacy systems.

Operating Model & Delivery Design

  • Design and operate a sustainable hybrid delivery model that combines a small in-house core with GCC and managed-service capacity, right-sizing insource versus outsource decisions based on complexity, risk, and strategic value.
  • Own the make-versus-buy-versus-partner decision framework for privacy platform capabilities; recommend, scope, and steward vendor engagements accordingly.
  • Ensure knowledge transfer, documentation, and cross-training practices are in place so critical capabilities are never dependent on a single individual.
  • Guide offshore development teams through issue resolution, root-cause analysis, vendor escalation, testing coordination, and production support for privacy and consent-related incidents or enhancements.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and implementation partners to define scopes of work, validate estimates, review proposed solutions, and ensure services meet Hershey's technology, security, and compliance expectations.

Business Partnership & Delivery

  • Serve as the primary Commercial IS partner to the Privacy organization and VP-level business leaders across comercial business partners.
  • Broker outcomes across compliance, experience, and marketing effectiveness, resolving trade-offs and preventing hand-offs between compliance and experience stakeholders.
  • Partner with Legal, Privacy, Marketing, and business stakeholders to translate regulatory, compliance, and consumer experience needs into clear requirements, user stories, roadmaps, and prioritized backlogs.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and delivery coordination for privacy, MarTech, and consumer data workstreams.
  • Lead quarterly planning preparation for the designated area.
  • Partner with Commercial Digital leaders to identify opportunities to reduce manual effort, improve automation, simplify integrations, and strengthen compliance-by-design practices.
  • Maintain strong relationships with cross-functional stakeholders and communicate effectively with technical teams, business owners, legal and privacy partners, and senior leaders.

Minimum Education & Requirements

Experience

  • 5 - 7+ years of experience in Information Technology, digital platforms, privacy technology, MarTech, data management, or related solution delivery roles.
  • Demonstrated experience shaping strategy and roadmap for privacy, consent, or data governance capabilities in a large enterprise environment — not just executing against a backlog defined by others.
  • Experience supporting or leading privacy, consent, customer data, marketing technology, or compliance-related platforms in a large enterprise environment.
  • Hands-on familiarity with OneTrust or comparable consent/privacy management platforms, including DSAR, cookie management, consent capture, preference centers, and reporting workflows.
  • Experience with consumer data and marketing platforms.
  • Experience working with integration technologies, data pipelines, APIs, cloud platforms, reporting tools, and enterprise architecture or security review processes.
  • Proven ability to influence at VP and C-suite altitude — including Legal, Privacy, and Marketing executive leadership — with confidence navigating trade-offs between compliance, experience, and commercial outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Legal, Privacy, Marketing, Digital, IS, vendor, and implementation partner teams to deliver compliant and scalable technology solutions.
  • Experience operating in Agile delivery models, including backlog management, sprint ceremonies, user story definition, prioritization, and release coordination.
  • Experience designing and operating hybrid delivery models (in-house + offshore / GCC + managed service partners), including make-vs-buy decisions and vendor governance.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Experience

  • IAPP certification — CIPP/US, CIPM, or CIPT.
  • Working knowledge of privacy regulations and operational implications, including CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, CIPA, Global Privacy Control, DSAR requirements, consent management, and email marketing compliance.
  • Experience with modern privacy engineering platforms — Privado, Transcend, DataGrail, Ketch, or comparable — and privacy-by-design tooling embedded in the SDLC.
  • Experience designing consent orchestration architectures across paid, owned, and earned MarTech (OneTrust ↔ AEP ↔ Klaviyo ↔ Emarsys, etc.).
  • Experience with AI/ML data governance, including consent propagation into model training data and agentic AI privacy risk management.
  • Familiarity with data clean rooms, Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PETs), and zero-party data strategies.
  • Experience with Adobe Launch, Adobe Experience Manager, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, SAP Commerce Cloud, MuleSoft, Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, Power BI, or similar enterprise digital ecosystem technologies.
  • Experience in consumer packaged goods, retail, digital commerce, consumer experience, loyalty, personalization, or omnichannel marketing environments.
  • Experience managing vendors, reviewing statements of work, coordinating production support, and driving technology handoffs or knowledge transfer during organizational transitions.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, Data/Analytics, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
