Position: Chargeman Lead

Job Location: Senai, Johor, Malaysia

Summary:

The primary role and responsibility of a Utilities Chargeman is to preserve, maintain, operate and optimize plant electrical equipment and systems. The Utilities Chargeman is responsible for operating and troubleshooting complex equipment and systems to identify and resolve functional deficiencies. This work will require extensive knowledge and must be accomplished with appropriate competency and safety consciousness. Other functions include, preventive and predictive procedures, modifying, testing, measuring, assembling, improving, and installing utilities and related equipment.  Maintenance duties will include operating, repairing, refurbishing, adjusting, and calibrating a wide range of equipment in the general categories of: Compressed air, Chilled water, treated water, waste water, refrigeration and HVAC.  It is expected that the Utility Chargeman develop and maintain proficiency on diverse group of equipment that supports the manufacturing process. The Utility Chargeman will display the Hershey Values of customer service, teamwork, and cooperation with all trades, production, and support personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures reliable operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing predictive / preventive maintenance procedures on compressors, motors, pneumatic actuators, process systems, and equipment.
  • To operate, install, maintain, and troubleshoot AC / DC motors and control circuits.
  • To operate, modify, align, maintain and troubleshoot: Compressors, Chillers, Air handlers, HVAC, Refrigeration systems, Cooling tunnels and Heating systems.
  • Communicate with others to ensure maintenance and repairs meet operational business needs.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate ability to work with a computerized maintenance management system (SAP PM) in order to process work orders or other documentation critical to equipment maintenance.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work under stress to meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Demonstrate proper techniques used to connect power cables to equipment, such as electric motors, and to install grounding leads.
  • Demonstrate proper technique used to check circuit connections to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components.
  • Demonstrate ability to use a PLC to troubleshoot automated equipment and automated building control processes.
  • Demonstrate ability to plan layout of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures consistent with engineering specifications and local codes.
  • Demonstrate proper techniques used to connect wiring to circuit breakers, transformers, lighting fixtures, thermostats, intercoms, signaling systems, power equipment, or other components.
  • Demonstrate ability to identify, select, and operate electrician's testing equipment, such as Multi meters, ohmmeters, ammeters, voltmeters, and continuity testers.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the principles and theory of electrical power system.
  • Demonstrate a familiarity with the materials, components and techniques used for electrical power transmission and distribution.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the local regional electrical design and installation codes.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the safe working practices related to electricity and its hazards.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of occupation-specific safety standards and procedures such as Personal Protective Equipment, Lock out Tag out, Fall Protection, Electrical hazards, Chemical and environmental hazards.
  • Advanced understanding of PC's and basic PC skills.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • B4 chargeman competency and certificate in respective installation.
  • 6-7 years of hands-on maintenance work in plant utilities systems. Preferred experiences including:
    • Industrial Electrical Systems
    • Compressed Air Systems
    • Centralized Chillers and Cooling towers
    • Process Control & Instrumentation
    • Motors and Controls (AC and DC)
    • HVAC systems
