Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Engineer
Summary of major duties:
• Drives and evaluates the capital and miscellaneous projects assigned through planning, organizing and coordinating.
a) Conception, feasibility study and proposal
b) Prepare project paper write up
c) Support Capital Team on business case development / justification to obtain project approval
d) Develop URS, raise the PR and follow up on the equipment delivery
e) FAT
f) Site installation / setup and SAT
g) Punch list & handover
• Communicate with the internal cross-fuctional teams and external US COEs – vendors. Monitor, follow up on the work progress proactively (Project-Plant KPIs, CAPEX & timeline) and provide project status visibility to the management team for work prioritization and breaking through obstacles, if necessary.
• Reviewing and recommending various Electrical, Control & Instrumentation solution proposals to the Plant Team based on the consolidated discussion outcomes from the in-house Engineers – COEs and various vendor.
• Support Process & Packaging Engineers by leading the Electrical, Control &
• Instrumentation proposal development, including the equipment design-selection, creation of electrical elementaries, preparing equipment and construction bid specifications, installation, system start-up, troubleshooting, and the training of line supervisors, operators and maintenance personnel.
• Support Process & Packaging Engineers to evaluate the NPI projects assigned by leading the Electrical, Control & Instrumentation proposal development.
a) Provide high level judgement / recommendation based on the Electrical, Control & Instrumentation fundamentals. Conduct trials, whenever quick judgement is not possible.
b) Develop and revise the proposals managing the technical, product innovation and financial expectations.
c) Provide the Investment estimation detail to the Plant Capital Team (ROI) supporting financial evaluation.
• Identify the opportunity, drives / support the capital and miscellaneous projects assigned achieving the CI Saving targets for the respective calendar year.
• Standard Project Management flow applies once the opportunity is survived through the initial technical and financial (COGS and ROI) evaluations. Follow up on the physical saving ensuring the the project deliverables.
• Investigate, recommend and provide the solutions to the Business Units on the production equipment towards structured and progressive solutions (Interim, corrective and preventive).
• Seek for the design / intital setup opportunities in order to meet the plant performance metrics. Conduct operational test to ensure designs fall within expected specifications. Design and improve processes to increase plant production efficiency and quality.
• Develop and maintain the Industrial Control Network Architecture and Security measures (firewalls, policies, etc.).
• Conduct training programs for work flow processes familiarization and Skills Diversification program.
• Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge on the developments and trends in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation for possible application with Hershey Foods present and future products. This is done through reviewing trade journals, participating in professional societies, attending trade shows and seminars and consulting suppliers and visiting their facilities. Work with buyers and other team member to implement and apply to Hershey Foods quality processes.
• Present and document the exploration outcomes to the team for future reference.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology
• 3 years leading the Engineering portion of multiple projects with experience in Process and Packaging Equipment in the Confectionery, Food, Chemical and/or Pharmaceutical industry (GMP environment)
• Expert knowledge of Rockwell and Siemens PLC’s and Motion Control systems (hardware and logic), FactoryTalk View, RSView, FactoryTalk Asset Centre, iFix, Wonderware and OPC communication, HMI/SCADA systems - both from an applied and maintenance perspective.
