Summary:  
The Digital Lean Lead will drive the Hershey Lean Pillar program at the Malaysia and India Plant by developing and implementing process and improvements and building operators capabilities in a TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) environment with. This role will mimic end to end Plant Project Lead scope who will own lean, process and system improvements that are integral to driving down losses and improving line efficiency (OEE). 

The Digital Lean Lead also will execute Digital Lean CI initiatives and deliverables in for the plant as per aligned timeline.

Summary of major duties:
Strategy Execution

•    Develop and refresh the Digital Lean roadmap in sync with Operational Excellence strategy.
•    Work closely with Plant Leadership and Pillar Leads to align on breakthrough goals (e.g., OEE, Waste delivery, PM, labor productivity).
•    Identify key digital-lean leverage points in high-priority value streams.
•    Periodically review strategy to adjust based on performance shifts or new corporate directives. 
•    Lead Daily Digital Lean Tasks Force Meetings to ensure Digital Lean Strategy of Implementation and Follow Ups.

Lean Integration with Digital Tools
•    Integrate digital solutions into core lean systems (Defect Management Systems, DDS, RCO, etc.).
•    Enhance traditional lean tools (e.g, 5S, POGs) with IoT sensors, real-time dashboards, and automated alerts. (eg. OSI Pi)
•    Ensure systems are human-centric driven. 

Process Improvements & Opportunity Mining: 
•    Use digital tools like S4, AIMS, OSI Pi, and other analytics tools to identify hidden bottlenecks, downtime drivers, and flow breaks.
•    Conduct data-driven Gemba walks and streamline digital data inputs with on-floor observations.
•    Prioritize high-ROI digital use cases for deeper exploration and solutioning for business cases. 

Digital Technology Implementation: 
•    Lead the deployment of digital tools (predictive maintenance, digital SOPs, machine learning models, etc.).
•    Set clear success metrics, governance, and feedback loops during rollout.
•    Collaborate with IT, Engineering, and vendors to scale what works, kill what doesn’t.
•    Ensure systems are battle-tested on the floor—not just in slides.
 

Capability Building: 
•    Deliver training and hands-on coaching to build digital fluency across the shop floor, from operators to supervisors.
•    Create internal champions who can drive digital lean autonomously.
•    Develop playbooks and toolkits for sustainment

Cross Functional Leadership
•    Coordinate taskforces or squads across Ops, CI, IT, Engineering, and Quality to drive end-to-end solutions.
•    Resolve conflicts quickly. Translate between technical, process, and business languages.
•    Be the single point of truth and urgency between departments.
 

Performance Management: 
•    Track digital initiative performance against plant KPIs (OEE, FPQ, IRM, Downtime).
•    Maintain dashboards that speak to both leadership and the floor.
•    Escalate roadblocks and underperformance early.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum Degree in Engineering or related discipline 
  • 7 – 10 years of experiences in manufacturing environment preferred, as process engineer, manufacturing engineer, or related position.
  • Proficient in Malay and English languages, both verbal and written 
  • Intermediate user of Microsoft Office Suite such as Excel, PowerPoint and Words
  • Computer literate – able to adapt quickly to different software interfaces such as SAP, SuccessFactors
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing environment such as process and production lines, machinery and equipment set up, operation set-up and daily management system
  • Basic understanding of problem-solving steps, continuous improvement and root case failure analysis
  • Basic knowledge of proper documentation management
  • Basic experiences in giving training and presentation
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing
