How will you fit in the big picture?

As a Utilities Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant utility systems that support manufacturing and facility operations. You will help maintain essential equipment such as compressed air systems, hot water systems, chillers, cooling towers, HVAC systems, water treatment systems, and packaged air-conditioning units. Working closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams, you will contribute to equipment reliability, operational excellence, energy efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards.

What will you do?

  • Monitor, operate, and perform routine inspections of utility and HVAC systems, including compressors, air dryers, chillers, cooling towers, hot water systems, ventilation systems, cold rooms, and packaged air-conditioning units.
  • Conduct inspections to identify abnormal conditions such as temperature deviations, vibration, equipment alarms, airflow restrictions, leaks, and unusual equipment performance.
  • Record and analyze operating parameters including temperature, pressure, humidity, flow rates, and equipment status.
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities, including cleaning, lubrication, inspection, adjustment, and replacement of consumable components such as filters, belts, and bearings.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment issues involving motors, pumps, fans, valves, dampers, sensors, actuators, thermostats, and variable speed drives (VSDs).
  • Utilize maintenance tools and testing equipment to identify root causes and support timely restoration of equipment performance.
  • Monitor system performance through Building Management Systems (BMS), DCS platforms, and local control panels.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and work orders using SAP PM or other computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Support predictive maintenance, reliability improvement, energy management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow all safety requirements, including PPE, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), permit-to-work procedures, and environmental, electrical, and fire safety standards.


Minimum Requirements

Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience performing maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance activities on plant utility and HVAC systems.
  • Knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration equipment, including air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), chilled water systems, cooling towers, and ventilation systems.
  • Experience using maintenance tools and measuring instruments such as multimeters, pressure gauges, vibration meters, and temperature meters.
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS), DCS platforms, PLC troubleshooting, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS/SAP PM).
  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Process Engineering, HVAC Technology, or a related technical field
