Commercial Accounting Supervisor
Work Setup: Hybrid (thrice a month/once a week)
Location: Makati, Metro Manila, Philippines
Summary:
The Commercial Accounting Supervisor, DME & SGA Int’l will closely support and oversee the Commercial Accounting & Reporting International in reviewing and approving journal entries and preparing reporting related to Direct Marketing Expenses (DME) and Divisional Expenses (SGA) for International: Cluster 1-APAC & India, Cluster 4- EMEA & WTR.
The role is responsible in timely & accurate financial results under U.S. GAAP and in compliance with Hershey Financial Policy. This individual should posess strong accounting acumen and reporting abilities; have process discipline and improvement mindset; and strength in leadership & peer influence. This position is expected to partner with Accounting Controllership, Marketing, HBP Leads in execution & implementation of accounting controls to support the business.
This individual will ensure that the key performance (KPI) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met, drive coaching and developments of Commercial Accountants and will be supporting global and regional projects that aid the business as it relates to Direct Marketing Expense and SGA Accounting.
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
Commercial Accounting, Account Reconciliation and Business Partnership (45%)
• Month End Close Activity
Review and approve journal entries of Commerical Accounting, across routine and non-routine adjustments related to monthly Direct Marketing Expenses and analysis of Divisional Expenses/SGA and related period adjustments, in accordance with the related Hershey Financial Policies.
• Month End Reports
Review and approval of related Monthly DME & SGA Schedules, Consolidated Reporting, and Subsidiary Account Reconciliation. This include quarterly reports for international covering the in-scope accounts.
• Account Reconciliation
Reviewer for blackline account reconciliation for DME and SGA for international and execute in a timely manner and compliant with IPE requirements. This includes review of the related accounts, compliance with the defined Account recon templates and monitoring resolution of the unreconciled balances.
• Controls Execution
The Commercial Accounting Supervisor will be responsible for driving good control mindset, and ensure complete, relevant, reliable accurate financial reports.
• Review Quarterly DME and SGA Balance with Finance and Controllers
• Lead Trade Spend Management Review Preparation & Reporting
• Lead Prior Year Accrual Clean up and Year End DME Substantiation
People Leadership (35%)
The role will have direct reports, and is expected to conduct a monthly one on ones to ensure operation, project and people concern is properly addressed and provide decision to escated matter related to Commercial Accounting.
Provide probationary evaluation, yearly performance evaluation and timely coaching sessions, which will help on the team’s personal development. He will also be responsible in training the Commercial Finance Accountant on the complex accounting tasks, and continually provide leadership on the stable processes.
All Others (20%)
• Continuous Process Improvement:
The role is responsible for driving major work process changes, automation and elimination of manual works that would significantly improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the work being processed to focus resources to valuable analysis.
Support Global & regional projects related to DME & SGA processes and tools to ensure proper internal controls are put in place.
• Issue Resolution and Escalation:
He/She will be the focal person on the issue monitoring and resolution, review of the root cause analysis, and ensuring that the next steps/resolution are followed.
• KPI Tracking and Reporting:
Responsible for defining relevant KPIs for the processes. Apart from defining measures, is responsible for timely updates, reporting to customers, and identifying and resolving issues that will lead to the improvement of KPIs.
• SOX Compliance & Testing, Internal and External Audit Supports
This role is responsible for administer and assign the preparation and submission of documents required for internal or external audit of the Hershey books and work processes. This role will certify that SOX requirement has been performed in compleness for each accounting tasks and reporting and oversee self-testing as requested.
• Other Tasks:
From time to time there are new tasks, projects, and assignments that may be assigned to the role as aligned with the direction of Controller, Commercial Accounting Int’l.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required, in Accounting or Finance, preferrably Certified Public Accountant
Experience:
- Must have at least 6 to 7 years of overall experience
- Must have at least 2 years of people management experience
- Must have High Level Accountant Knowledge – Must be managing analysis of P&L, Preparation of Financial Statements, etc.
- Must have the maturity to take on additional responsibilities, must be highly adaptable to changes, and must be flexible
- Must have passion for coaching and developing the team – CDAP
- Must be a Strong Decision Maker – Firm Leadership
- Must be a Good Communicator
- Someone well versed in PowerApps (Automation – Power BI, Power Automate, Macros, etc.) is highly preferred
- S4Hana experience is preferred
- Amenable to a flexible work schedule with a based shift of mid shift (10:00 am to 7:00pm)
