Material Master Data Supervisor

Role Summary: 


The role of SAP Master Data Supervisor as Functional Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day Master Data Operations and resources and more importantly, plays as key resource for Master Data maintenance support and request handling on an ongoing basis. Regularly assess own and team’s challenges in completing the tasks while upholding group accountability and responsibility in putting the group’s operational goals/service level commitment ahead of each own priorities. First-line of support for every business escalation related to operations, and works with Global Business Service SAP Master data Manager in handling those associated with business/financial risks. Lead continuous/process improvement initiatives resulting from challenging the process or ways of working or from opportunities derived from regular monitoring of performance in quality and other key operational metrics. Implement and account for the data and process controls and perform regular assessments, remediations where applicable. Ensure that each member of the team is able to meet its role’s expectations and the individuals own psychological needs by engaging, coaching, guiding and providing feedback and direction regularly.           

 

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Functional/Master Data Management and Operations Business Continuity

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the assigned Master Data (Material/Vendor/Customer/Price) Domains while coaching the team in handling issues that arise.
  • Secure all Master Data Requests to be well accounted by the team
  • Handles Master Data requests, Incidents or Master Data Maintenance support (System Updates or troubleshooting/issue resolutions) on an ongoing basis supporting the team with complex maintenances or at full/critical business period or as back-up for key Master Data specialist tasks or supporting the business with other Master Data related processes.
  • First to respond and handle escalations, urgent and high-severity concerns related to Master Data operations/processes. Make sure to inform/involve the SAP Master Data Manager in handling those with significant impact to Hershey Operations or Financial Aspects. Escalate and Redirect the concern to the SAP Master Data Manager id any key business decisions needed.
  • Regularly assess the situations or challenges, plan and organize the resources to effectively manage operations  and business continuity especially during disruptive events.
  • Connect with Data Steward of the related domain for any alignment in terms of prioritization, Master Data process updates or changes affecting the Master Data operations being handled.
  • Commit together with the team to the Service Level Agreements defined for the Enterprise Master Data Management and its stakeholders.

 

 

 

Internal/External Process Controls Execution

    • Responsible in keeping the Enterprise Master Data Management organization compliant to all OTC and P2P process related SOX and Non-SOX Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR), by leading regular assessments or tests of controls to identify potential risks, document results, findings and remediations where applicable
    • Primary contact for internal and external audit engagements providing support on process and organizational overview and information, audit or testing requirements and other audit inquiries/clarifications.
    • Provide training to self-testers who assist in Internal and External control testing.
    • Work with the Control Owner/Global Business Service SAP Master Data Manager in devising management actions to fix identified issues from audit findings and lead the various cross-functional workstreams as needed in resolving issues permanently.

 

 

People Management

    • Conduct regular 1:1 with direct reports to keep up-to-date in terms of their well-being, performance or challenges they face at work and discuss how the individual can handle or the leader/Management can support.
    • Coach each member on technical, process or interpersonal and provide feedback on performance and behavior timely.
    • Evaluate and responsible for individual rating and development based on performance and behavior as required.
    • Key participation in planning and recruitment of talents as the need arise
    • Establish a workforce plan on a regular basis to ensure workload balance and support to ensure smooth flow and continuity of Master data operations especially during disruptive events.
    • Provide training and onboarding to new hires

 

 

Data Quality, Operational and other Performance/Service Metrics:

  • Develop relevant operational metrics or performance indications which support global Enterprise Master Data Management organization’s goals and KPIs. These metrics should be aligned with identified stakeholders/business and Data Quality – with data owners and data steward in terms of expectations, targets or reporting.
  • Ensure that Data Quality, metrics, performance indicators and Service Level Agreements are communicated within the team and that each member understands how these translate to their own or group performance and quality of work.
  • Lead in the measurement, monitoring and timely reporting to Global Business Service SAP Master Data Manager of operations metrics and Quality results and highlights. Provide insights/Root Cause analysis/Action points for identified issues or below targets.

 

 

Continuous Improvement and Optimization, Process Excellence:

    • Identify, initiate and implement improvement initiatives in the Master Data processes or ways of working while building this continuous improvement spirit within the team.
    • To identify improvements, regularly review/challenge the processes or ways of working or derive the opportunities from the results of performance in quality or operational metrics. This is to streamline, automate or optimize that will result to efficiency gains, FTE savings or process excellence.
    • Work with Global Business Service SAP Master Data Manager in assessing, implementing the improvement initiatives and in communicating/enforcing to key stakeholders to ensure that all possible business interests are captured/addressed.

 

Business Partnership/Stakeholder Relations:

  • Build trust and relationship with the stakeholders by being their first-line of support for Master Data escalation, high-severity concerns or urgent needs.
  • Communicate or engage with Business Partners or stakeholders to update them with the process improvement or change impacting their processes or ways of working, issues encountered and action points and sharing of best practices where applicable.

 

 

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities: 

 

Knowledge:

  • Expert in Material Master Data
  • Must be knowledgeable in SAP
  • S4 HANA experience preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint)

Education/Experience:

 

Education: Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Finance or equivalent

 

Experience: 

  • At least 5 years total work experience in SAP Master Data management.
  • At least 2 years’ experience as Supervisor/Team Lead in the BPO or Shared Service industry working in SAP Master Data Management.
  • Must have direct experience managing SAP Material Data Management
  • Strong preference given to candidates with combined SAP Material, Customer, Vendor, and Pricing master data experience
  • Strong preference given to candidates with experience in SAP 4 Hana or automation and migration experience.
  • Candidates must have strong experience initiating and participating in continuous/process improvement initiatives.
  • Must have strong business partnering experience with internal and external stakeholders
  • Must be adaptable to changes
  • Must have the capability to establish rapport and strong collaborative relationships with cross functional teams while also having the ability to push back when needed.
