Sr Accountant Capital Planning
Work Setup: Hybrid (twice a week)

Summary:
The HBP Record to Report – Supply Chain Accounting team is committed to providing exceptional customer service within The Hershey Company, by assuring prudent stewardship of the Company’s assets.
The Senior Accounting Specialist will perform various functions, which include Project Management, Depreciation/Amortization, Asset Disposal’s budgeting and planning, month-end, SOX, and Operational Controls. She will work closely with Project Managers to ensure effective budgeting, financial oversight, and strategic allocation of capital resources. This role is responsible for analyzing project costs, managing fixed assets, forecasting depreciation, and ensuring compliance with financial policies.
This role is expected to Partner with the Global Supply Chain Team and will be working together to ensure process excellence, continuous improvement, business partnership, and service delivery through defined metrics, are met or exceeded.
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
Month-end, SOX and Operational Controls (50%)
- Month-end and Operational Controls: She is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting by performing key Month end tasks, including:
• Prepare Month End Entries
• Executing Depreciation runs for all entities
• Conducting variance Analysis
• CARD Accruals
• Review of Useful life of New Asset, GL postings, and Idle Asset Reserve.
• Ageing Projects Review and provisions.
• Other month-end tasks, as applicable
- SOX Controls: Responsible for executing monthly internal control activities to mitigate financial and operational risks while ensuring compliance with SOX requirements. This role includes monitoring key controls, reviewing financial transactions, and implementing corrective actions to uphold regulatory and corporate governance standards.

Project Management, Budgeting & Planning (35%)
Project Management:
Requests and Optimization efforts
- Support and facilitate management requests related to fixed assets, depreciation, and other related topics by conducting detailed analysis, providing interpretation, and offering informed recommendations.
- Identifying areas of improvement, providing actionable steps, and implementing solutions to push efficiency into key areas.
Project Review for business-enabling projects (Asset Renewal, Social Impact, R&D, Admin, THEX) with budget requests below $1M.
Budgeting and Planning:
- Develop, manage, and execute the planning of Depreciation/Amortization and Asset Disposal, for the Global Supply Chain, Corporate, and US Division
- Develop, manage, and execute the planning of Capital Interest for Corporate
- Communicate plan results and collaborate with appropriate business functions to achieve plan financial goals

Systems Management Support & Others: Manage and administer non-SAP systems the business utilizes to ensure consistent support and timely resolution of issues.
- Capital Asset Relocation and Disposal System (CARD) – review, validate, and approve asset change requests
- SOX SharePoint Repository for Aged Capital Projects – own the process for updates, uploads/ downloads, communication, and achieving SOX-required responses
KPI Tracking and Reporting: The Analyst is responsible for defining relevant KPIs for the processes. Apart from defining measures, the accountant is responsible for timely updates, reporting to customers, and identifying and resolving issues that will improve KPIs.
Adhoc/ other Tasks: Others related ad hoc roles that may be assigned with alignment with the HBP RTR Manager.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required, in Finance, Accounting, or any related field
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years experience in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- Working knowledge of GAAP accounting principles
- Must have functional knowledge of Internal Orders, Fixed Assets, and Cost Center Reporting
- Must have Advanced Excel skills using Macros
- Strong preference given to candidates with Capital Planning and expenditures experience.
- Understanding of financial planning and analysis functions, annual planning, and monthly outlook processes
- Technical skills (e.g., Excel, Powerpoint, SAP), with proven ability to synthesize multiple data sources to develop insights and strategy recommendations
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to partner with both finance and non-finance areas
- Strong preference given to candidates who are CPA
- Amenable to a shifting work Mid-Shift (2PM - 11PM) 3 weeks a month and Night-Shift (8PM - 5AM) once a week during month end closing
