US Payroll Specialist - Multi State

Summary:

 

Hershey’s Payroll Specialist is responsible for the timely and accurate bi-weekly payroll and time processing of manufacturing sites throughout the United States. The Payroll Specialist oversees the automated payroll software SAP, and partners with HR and IS teams to troubleshoot and resolve system data integrity errors

Additional partnerships include Legal, Employee Relations, Finance and Operations, working collectively to ensure all data is accurately being passed and processed

 

 

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

 

Process US bi-weekly payroll in SAP accurately and timely.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.

Perform data entry for new hires, terminations, and employee changes.

Research variances regarding past pay cycles, updating lien, garnishment documentation, legal inquiries and audit questions or concerns.

Ensures all post processing interface jobs are successfully processed – Posting to SAP’s finance module (GL posting, third party payment posting / garnishments) deposit file, positive pay file, retirement, and other data interfaces.

Customer service focused with detail on employee support and personal data confidentiality.

Process prior quarter wage and tax adjustments.

Handle and implement all company payroll policies and procedures to ensure requirements are followed consistently every payroll.

Assist in year-end processing to ensure accuracy of W-2's

Maintain payroll files and records.

Work on special payroll projects as needed.

Run adhoc reports upon request.

Provide support and coverage for other team members.

 

 

Minimum knowledge skills and abilities:

Knowledge of SAP, federal, state, and local taxation

Technology and systems savvy

Great written and verbal communication skills

Ability to meet deadlines and work with highly confidential matters

Ability to collaborate and work effectively with peers and/or within cross functional teams

 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, Business, or related field preferred (combination of education, experience, and certifications considered)
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with US federal and multiple state payroll processing
  • Must have Payroll taxation experience in both federal and multiple US states 
  • Mist have Advanced Excel Skills 
  • Must have SAP experience
  • Must have Excellent English Communication Skills 
  • Strong Preference given to candidates with accounting or finance experience.
  • Must be willing to work NIGHT SHIFT (8PM - 5AM) and on Holidays as needed
