How will you fit in the big picture?

The Specialist Quality Assurance plays an important role in protecting Hershey’s product quality, food safety, and consumer trust. In this role, you will support manufacturing operations by owning recurring QA and testing processes, coordinating verifications, monitoring food safety programs, and helping identify trends that drive continuous improvement. You will serve as a trusted technical resource for operations partners while helping ensure products and processes consistently meet company, regulatory, and food safety requirements.

What will you do?

  • Lead and coordinate recurring QA checks, testing activities, sampling plans, specification checks, sensory evaluations, and other product or process verification activities within your assigned area.
  • Perform more complex analytical and microbiological testing while guiding routine work and ensuring required verifications are completed, documented, and escalated appropriately. 
  • Conduct audits and monitoring activities tied to food safety, sanitation, hygiene, allergen control, environmental monitoring, PEP, HACCP, Food Safety Plans, Food Quality Plans, and internal audit programs.
  • Support incident investigations by collecting data, analyzing results, identifying trends, summarizing findings, and recommending corrective or preventive actions. 
  • Maintain accurate QA, food safety, laboratory, and documentation records while preparing reports or insights that support continuous improvement discussions. 
  • Assist with employee training, product and process audits, and cross-functional support for manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, new product efforts, and business unit needs.

Minimum Requirements

Experience:
  • 1+ years of relevant experience required, aligned to the Specialist level in the JA Levels document.
  • Related experience in quality assurance, food safety, manufacturing, laboratory testing, sanitation, microbiology, auditing, regulatory compliance, or a production/manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of food safety and quality systems such as PEP, HACCP, GMP, GFSI, sanitation, allergen control, environmental monitoring, and regulatory requirements preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, computer, documentation, troubleshooting, auditing, and attention-to-detail skills preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and support manufacturing operations as needed. 
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field, or equivalent related experience.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $64,560 to $80,700 per year. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of job‑related factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skill set, education, and training.
