How will you fit in the big picture?
You will lead environmental, health, and safety strategy and execution for an assigned manufacturing location or group of operations. As a trusted advisor to site leadership, you will translate organizational priorities into practical plans, strengthen compliance and operational efficiency, and help prevent serious injuries and significant environmental events. This is an opportunity to shape EHS culture, guide complex risk decisions, and share best practices across Hershey operations.
What will you do?
• Lead large, complex EHS programs and short-term strategic plans aligned with business priorities, company standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Serve as the senior EHS advisor to site leadership, communicating material risks, compliance trends, resource needs, and decision-ready recommendations.
• Oversee risk assessments, audits, inspections, permits, training, management systems, and corrective actions to strengthen compliance and reduce risk.
• Lead investigations of significant incidents and near misses, including root-cause analysis, preventive actions, lessons learned, and verification of effectiveness.
• Integrate EHS into daily operations, maintenance planning, capital projects, management of change, emergency preparedness, and continuous improvement.
• Establish and monitor leading and lagging indicators, dashboards, and performance reviews to identify trends and drive action.
• Lead, coach, and develop EHS professionals and build EHS capability, employee participation, and line-management ownership across the site.
• Participate in the Global EHS network by sharing best practices and supporting selected cross-site initiatives or technical workstreams.
Minimum Education & Requirements
• Detailed knowledge of applicable environmental, health, and safety laws, regulations, permits, standards, and manufacturing practices.
• Demonstrated ability to develop EHS strategy, lead complex risk assessments and incident investigations, and influence leaders across functions.
• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex technical and risk information into clear recommendations.
• Demonstrated people leadership skills, including coaching, prioritization, talent development, and management of employees, contractors, or consultants.
• Experience:

7+ years of progressively responsible EHS experience, preferably in manufacturing or another complex, high-risk operating environment.

Experience leading and developing EHS professionals and influencing senior site leadership is required.
• Education:

Bachelor's degree required.

A degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Environmental Science, or another EHS-related discipline is preferred.

An EHS professional certification and/or advanced degree is preferred.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $137,840 to $172,300 per year. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of job‑related factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skill set, education, and training.
