Future Opportunities Intern Category Management (Winter 2024)

The intern will work within the Category Management & Insights team, which influences customers to make insight led decisions that will drive performance for the retailer while supporting Hershey Canada’s strategic objectives.   The team will work across functions within the Hershey Canada organization to understand the opportunities and risk in the marketplace and in turn develop strategies and insights to drive growth amongst these conditions.  The team is an indispensable partner for the sales organization in driving our strategy through to execution by delivering category centric solutions grounded in actionable insights. 

 

What will you do? 

  • Learn to use multiple industry standard big data platforms to analyze Point of Sale (POS), Customer and Shopper data (Loyalty, Custom Shopper Research), such as; Numerator, IRI, Nielsen, etc.  

  • Collaborate with Hershey’s cross functional partners and the broader Category Management team to understand marketplace dynamics and opportunities and in turn support the development of data driven insights and presentations leveraging multiple tools available. 

  • Develop actionable recommendations for cross-functional teams and retail partners and present them with confidence in a clear and concise manner. 

  • Interface with sales to provide insights and materials that will assist with the sell-in of products and initiatives at headquarters and support sell through at store level. 

  • Learn to use industry leading automation & visualization tools (e.g. Alteryx, Tableau & Power BI) to assist in the development of ongoing insight tools that are designed to unlock capacity in the sales organization and in turn drive results for the total business.  

  • Be viewed as a subject matter expert and support the process of embedding new data tools and capabilities into the Category Management teams ways of working.  

 

 Minimum Requirements 

  • You are enrolled in a business program at a post-secondary institution, in 3rd or 4th year 

  • You can look at an analytical dashboard and gain insights without breaking into a cold sweat. You have a solid understanding of financial metrics and P&L fundamentals. You recognize when there’s enough analysis and discussion and then you jump into action. 

  • You are a high-achiever that continuously strives to find better ways of working. You challenge the status-quo, recommend, and implement process improvements. 

  • You walk the walk when it comes to agility. You facilitate and lead projects by collaborating cross-functionally.
