Analyst, Import/Export Ocean MX

Primary Purpose

The Analyst, Import/Export Ocean MX is responsible for the timely execution of end-to-end ocean transportation arrangements within the Export Order-to-Cash cycle. This role requires close collaboration with Order Management Associates (OMA) and the Global Trade team, who manage sales orders and serve as the primary contact for Hershey’s international distributors.

The Export Administrator will coordinate cargo bookings with ocean carriers and freight forwarders, ensuring that booking confirmations and key transportation planning dates are promptly communicated to Hershey Business Partners (HBP). This enables downstream order management activities such as delivery note creation, timely pickup, document validation, and processing. The role also supports investigations and resolution of detention and demurrage charges. Success in this position requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and a sense of urgency. Key performance metrics include On-Time Delivery, Document Accuracy, and Timely Document Delivery.


Major Duties & Responsibilities

1. Export Operations 

  • Submit ocean bookings and monitor milestones, escalating exceptions and service failures.
  • Maintain export tracking platforms and SharePoint files.
  • Ensure readiness of orders prior to delivery note creation.
  • Coordinate delivery note issuance and transportation planning.
  • Provide container cargo plans (CCP) to carriers.
  • Issue insurance certificates and request certificates of analysis.
  • Modify invoices with COO and EUDR references.
  • Ensure timely filing of export declarations.
  • Validate Bills of Lading and facilitate document requests.
  • Support detention and demurrage investigations.
  • Maintain data for reporting and validate import/export pedimentos.

2. Import Operations

  • Monitor shipments from Malaysia to Monterrey, ensuring continuous communication with export teams.
  • Validate shipping documents and manage customs clearance with brokers.
  • Coordinate local carrier instructions and plant unloading activities.
  • Ensure timely return of empty containers (target: 10 free days).
  • Monitor and report extra charges (D&D).

3. Process Documentation & Metrics

  • Maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for international order fulfillment.
  • Establish and monitor operational metrics and service failure performance.

4. Sample Shipments 

  • Coordinate and manage global sample shipments.

 


Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Economics, Business, or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years in transportation, international logistics, or customer service within a multinational company.

Technical Skills

  • ERP systems experience (SAP ECC / S/4 preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI)
  • Strong command of English
