How will you fit in the big picture?
The Director, Media Strategy is a senior strategic leader responsible for owning and advancing Hershey’s paid media strategy across the portfolio. This role serves as the connective tissue between brand ambition, consumer insight, creative ideas, investment strategy, media execution, and performance measurement—ensuring every dollar works harder to build brands, drive growth, and strengthen Hershey’s connection with consumers.
This leader operates as the day-to-day strategic owner of paid media across the ecosystem, guiding full-funnel investment decisions across video, CTV, social, programmatic, retail media integration, search, audio, emerging channels, and tentpole activations. The role requires someone who can move fluidly between strategy and execution: setting the vision, pushing quality, influencing senior stakeholders, managing agency and partner relationships, and translating performance data into clear optimization decisions.
They should bring strong paid media expertise, a modern understanding of how consumers move across channels, and the confidence to challenge plans, simplify complexity, and make decisive recommendations that improve both brand and business outcomes.
What will you do?
- Lead portfolio-wide paid media strategy, planning principles, and investment frameworks across Hershey brands.
- Develop insight-led, consumer-first media strategies that connect business objectives to channel roles, audience strategies, and activation plans.
- Guide media investment decisions and optimization priorities across brands, campaigns, and tentpole moments.
- Partner cross-functionally to ensure media is integrated into campaign development from strategy through execution and measurement.
- Provide strategic leadership to agency, platform, and data partners, driving accountability, innovation, and measurable business outcomes.
- Advance media capabilities across CTV, retail media, audience-based buying, AI-enabled optimization, clean rooms, and emerging platforms.
- Establish global media governance, measurement standards, buying principles, and performance frameworks across markets.
- Translate marketing mix modeling (MMM), attribution, platform performance, and campaign results into actionable recommendations.
- Lead, coach, and develop media talent while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and strategic excellence.
Experience
Minimum Education & Experience
- 10+ years of relevant professional experience required for Director-level roles.
- Significant experience in media strategy, integrated marketing, communications planning, or related disciplines; CPG, consumer brand, and/or agency experience preferred.
- Deep expertise across paid media channels including video, CTV, social, programmatic, search, audio, and retail media.
- Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams, agency partnerships, and large-scale marketing investments.
- Strong understanding of media measurement, MMM, attribution, audience strategy, optimization, and performance analytics.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and communicate complex ideas through clear, strategic recommendations.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Media, or a related field required. Advanced degree preferred.
The anticipated base salary range for this role is $168,000 to $210,000 per year. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of job‑related factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skill set, education, and training.
