Summary:

The Tax Manager (Brazil Lead) is responsible for directing the full tax agenda in Brazil, serving as the strategic liaison between Global Tax and local business units. This role encompasses tax consulting, planning, litigation management, and compliance, ensuring legal adherence, optimization of tax positions, mitigation of fiscal risks, and strategic support for business decisions.

 

 

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Act as the primary tax representative for Brazil, ensuring full alignment with Global Tax and delivering integrated guidance to local business units.
  2. Advise senior leadership and cross‑functional teams on the tax implications of operational and strategic decisions.
  3. Lead tax planning initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance tax efficiency in alignment with the company’s risk profile.
  4. Monitor legislative and jurisprudential developments, proactively guiding the business on risk mitigation and emerging tax opportunities.
  5. Lead the assessment of the impacts of the Brazilian Tax Reform on company operations.
  6. Develop and implement compliance and optimization strategies aligned with the new tax framework.
  7. Provide technical tax advisory to internal stakeholders across the organization.
  8. Ensure accurate interpretation and application of federal, state, and municipal tax regulations.
  9. Define defense strategies for administrative and judicial tax cases, in partnership with external law firms.
  10. Manage the company's tax litigation portfolio, ensuring governance, updated risk assessments, and accurate provisioning.
  11. Review and evaluate guarantees related to ongoing tax proceedings.
  12. Ensure accuracy in fiscal closing processes and support both internal and external audits.
  13. Support digital transformation and tax automation initiatives, enhancing process efficiency and compliance accuracy.
  14. Ensure full compliance with tax requirements at the Federal, State, and Municipal levels, monitoring obligations and regulatory expectations.
  15. Manage the calculation and execution of monthly tax payments and annual tax returns for all Brazilian legal entities.
  16. Act as a tax advisor to all business areas in Brazil, providing technical guidance and strategic support.
  17. Lead and develop a team of seven tax professionals, fostering capability building, engagement, and high performance.
  18. Oversee a budget of over BRL 300K (excluding the Tax Reform project budget), ensuring accuracy, governance, and cost efficiency.

 

 

 

Skills, Experience Background and Knowledge:

  • Advanced English Communication Skills (mandatory).
  • Advanced Spanish Communication Skills (Nice to have).
  • Deep expertise in Brazilian tax legislation and jurisprudence, with strong ability to interpret, analyze, and apply complex regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven experience in tax litigation strategy, tax planning, and compliance oversight, demonstrating solid technical judgment and risk‑management capabilities.
  • Strong command of global reporting standards and their application in multinational environments.
  • Experience in the Food Industry is a strong plus.
  • People management experience, having led teams of at least four professionals.
  • Hands-on experience managing both direct and indirect taxes, including operational execution and strategic guidance.
  • Professional experience in U.S.-based companies, with exposure to U.S. governance, controls, and reporting routines.
  • Background in tax accounting firms (highly valued), especially those with diverse client portfolios and complex tax cases.
  • Career path starting in a Big Four firm, followed by a transition to a U.S. multinational, is considered a strong differentiator.
  • Executive presence, with the ability to influence and build credibility at senior leadership levels.
  • Strategic vision, with strong capability to anticipate business implications and regulatory impacts.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills, ensuring clarity, alignment, and influence across diverse audiences.
  • Strong prioritization, problem‑solving, and decision‑making agility, especially in complex or fast‑changing environments.
  • Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Dynamics, including system navigation, data management, and process optimization.

 

 

 

Education Background:         

  1. Bachelor’s in law, Accounting or Economics is mandatory.
  2. Postgraduate/Master degree specialization in Tax is desirable.
