Accounting Manager
Job Location: Stuarts Draft, VA
Summary:
The Hershey Company Stuarts Draft plant is a Non-Union plant producing products such as Reese’s Pieces, Reese Cups, Reese Shapes, Reese Bars, Mr. Goodbar, Mounds, Almond Joy, NutRageous, Oh Henry, FastBreak, Whatchamacallit, Cookie Layer Crunch, Baking Chips, etc. in a high-speed complex environment.
This Manager role reports to the Sr Plant Controller & takes responsibility for overseeing and controlling the monthly accounting process at the Stuarts Draft plant. This responsibility includes the insurance that Generally Accepted Accounting Practices are followed in recording of all transactions and that key Sarbanes Oxley process controls are in place a functioning as intended. This role has management oversight for the accounting processes as it relates to the consolidated results reported in SAP and in supplemental reporting and control documents created on a monthly and year-to-date basis.
This Manager role also includes the consolidation and reporting of the outlook process for manufacturing. This role is responsible for the timely summarization, comparison and road mapping of changes in the various monthly outlooks.
Responsibilities:
- This position is responsible for the ongoing review and enhancement to the SOX controls ensuring that all SOX controls are being performed as intended and that proper controls are in place.
- This position will oversee the monthly close process within the manufacturing environment. Duties will include the review of all non-routine entries and a review of all monthly close results to ensure accurate and timely reporting. This position ensures that GAAP are in place and operating to generate fair accounting results associated with the month-end process.
- This position will finally be responsible for the monthly reporting package that is sent to Senior Management with a narrative surrounding key operational events and the resulting accounting impact.
- This position will be responsible for summarizing the monthly outlook process for manufacturing and providing insight into the expected results each month. Duties include analysis around changes to plan and the various Business Unit updates and risks that exist in the current estimated results.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and corporate financial policies
- Accounting operational experience
- Ability to plan and organize
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and team leadership skills, ability to work with and/or supervise a variety of people.
- Strong computer and SAP skills.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- B.S. in Business related field required. Accounting or Finance Degree strongly preferred
- Advanced degree and/or certification (CPA, CMA, MBA) preferred
- 10-15 years of manufacturing accounting or equivalent accounting experience required
- SAP experience
