HR Generalist
Job Location: Stuarts Draft, VA
Summary:
The HR Generalist position at the Stuarts Draft facility is a key HR partner role, responsible for human resources organizational capability for assigned client groups and across the large site. This role will focus on employee relations and implementing HR initiatives to increase employee engagement and satisfaction throughout the site.
Main Responsibilities:
Talent First
- Participates in career development efforts, people planning, talent acquisition, leadership development, and performance management.
- Consults with management team to analyze and assess people needs of the organization and develops and implements strategies to meet those needs.
- Identifies key training needs and develops plans and timelines for design and delivery.
- Supports leading and developing HR staff.
- Manages relationship with temporary staffing agencies to ensure the quantity and quality of temporary staffing to meet production schedules.
Employee Engagement/ Culture
- Drives the engagement survey process, action planning and implementation of recommendations for client groups with an approximate hourly population of 400 team members.
- Ensures positive employee relations by proactive employee communication, prompt issue resolution and fair and equitable policy administration. This includes support of local and national programs to promote employee good will and positive morale.
- Participates in wage surveys, insures market competitive wage recommendations.
- Identifies opportunities and recommends changes to increase performance, reduce cost, and positively impact metrics through analytical approaches, including the tracking of key data and analyzing trends.
- Focuses on the entire Employee Value Proposition.
- Engages with hourly team members in their work areas to support operations and culture.
- Develops and executes a calendar of engagement events each year.
HR Excellence
- Drives business performance by utilizing knowledge of the business and interrelationships to influence strategy and decision-making, partnership with the site leadership team to achieve plant goals.
- Contributes to business performance by utilizing knowledge of financial concepts and being able to identify the key factors affecting the business units’ financial performance.
- Anticipates and overcomes barriers to delivering quality HR services; recommending and driving business process efficiencies and consistencies.
- Leverages and educates others on available technology, shared services, HR services and procedures to meet customer needs.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state and local government regulations.
- Uses knowledge of business trends to create and implement clear, relevant, and actionable plans. Defines and communicates clear expectations. Tracks and develops plans to remove obstacles to success.
Scope
· Supports approximately 400 hourly employees within assigned Business Units and 1500 hourly employees across the site.
· Reports to the HR Business Partner Manager, and indirectly to the site Sr. HR Manager.
· Provides support to Business Unit Leaders, salaried front line supervisors, and secondary support to the Plant Leadership team in.
Minimum knowledge, skills, education, and experience:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resource Management, or a related discipline.
- An advanced degree is a plus.
- PHR, SHRM-PC preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Human Resources required, manufacturing experience preferred.
- Effective oral and written communications skills, excellent interpersonal skills and computer literacy.
- Must have experience and knowledge of state and federal regulations, driving compliance in the area of; workers compensation, affirmative action planning, FMLA administration, ADA, FLSA, EEO Charge responses etc.
- The role is onsite full time, in a manufacturing environment with various schedules that may result in weekend and after hours support as needed.
