Sanitation Manager
Summary:
Under direction of the Sr. Quality Assurance Manager, the Sanitation Manager's responsibilities are to oversee the Sanitation, Pest Management, and Hygienic Design programs, processes, and employees within the facility.
In addition, the Sanitation Manager will:
- Be responsible for maintaining all Sanitation and Pest Control records while ensuring program compliance with corporate policies.
- Provide support to operations through the administration of Hershey food safety programs.
- Support operational initiatives through Lean Manufacturing’s Rapid Change Over methods impacting sanitation and Hygienic Design (HD).
- Support the prevention of faulty product, consumer complaints, and sanitary design issues by problem solving in conjunction with the Operations and Quality teams.
- Develop and implement strategies to ensure that necessary tools, supplies, and equipment are available to perform sanitation tasks effectively.
- Schedule exempt and/or non-exempt employees and prioritize workload to manage team hours against allotted budget.
- Maintain effective communication to the global sanitation manager and global IPM supervisor.
- Provide professional development to site sanitation coordinators and/or supervisors.
- Ensure the CAPA process for sanitation, pest management, and hygienic design improvement plans are followed.
- Lead site training of sanitation, pest management programs, and hygienic design.
- Lead sanitary design through direct involvement with project teams or by providing guidance to plant projects to ensure hygienic principles are met.
- Oversee and lead the plant initiative to achieve targeted KPIs.
- Act as liaison between factory personnel, 3rd party service providers, and the center of excellence.
- Provide leadership to production personnel to complete production line and facility sanitation as required by the Master Sanitation Schedule including outside grounds, uniform laundering, and janitorial services.
- Lead and support cleaning verification and validation programs to prove effectiveness of the sanitation program.
- Support allergen cleaning and control measures within the facility:
- Oversee plant sanitation budget and spending
- Support Management of waste and recycling programs
- Ensure appropriate staffing for support of line cleaning by partnering with labor scheduling.
- Lead response planning and execution to emerging viral situations minimize risk to employees and product.
- Lead roof and overhead water leaks containment program and corrective action follow up

- Knowledge of Environmental Monitoring is preferred
- Knowledge of Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and Safe Quality Foods (SQF) standards and the certification process
Minimum Requirements and Education:
- B.S. in Food Science, Engineering, Microbiology, or related field is required
- A minimum of 3 years Supervisor or Manager experience in a food manufacturing facility or equivalent knowledge demonstrated
- Sanitation supervisory experience or equivalent knowledge demonstrated is required
- Knowledge in Sanitation, Hygienic Design, Pest Control, HACCP, Microbiology, Chemical Safety, and Quality Systems
- Knowledge of OHSA, FDA, USDA, and EPA regulations
- Experience with CIP and COP is preferred
- Auditing and problem-solving skills.
