Summary
The Product Configuration Analyst is Hershey’s expert in full product recipe structure for all products in the Product Data Management (PDM) system. Additionally, this role will be responsible for development of product assembly (candy plus packaging) specification development. Role will actively manage the configuration of recipe data with the intention of keeping recipes, bill of materials and actual production aligned across manufacturing sites regardless of where they are produced or sold. Responsible for creating both general and plant specific assembly recipes and the corresponding specifications by managing the materials (both new and existing) that establish the new multi-layer recipe structure. Coordinate with Supply Chain, Finance, GBS, and R&D stakeholders to expedite the flow of work and materials within the PDM engineering records according to project management timelines. Works with Product Change Specialists and project managers to determine progress of work and completion dates; compiling reports on product creation/change progress of work, key decisions and problems/opportunities. Upholds the Company data standards which requires engaging stakeholders across R&D, Global Business Services (GBS), Supply Chain, and the Commercial groups to ensure recipes are aligned to new product structure.
Responsibilities:
Management of Product Recipes in Product Data Management (PDM)
- Manages the creation and maintenance of Hershey’s new multi-layer, general recipes in the Product Data Management (PDM) system according to the Accolade project decisions, Product Development expectations, and Engineering Record assumptions.
- Validate the inputs, quantities, units of measure, outputs and any associated key data attributes as they create full product recipes.
- Manages materials within recipes (both general and plant specific) to represent manufacturing processes and production confirmation points to support product costing, co-packing, and an expanding level of agile supply chain strategies
- Champion and facilitate appropriate use of the recipe data
- Verify all product changes have a Product Engineering Record used for development.
Creation of Product Specifications from Recipes
- Requests new materials to complete the specifications and subsequent recipes while ensuring to keep or expand the product data standards established for multi-layer recipes
- Leverage the PDM tool to establish Specifications for each level of the recipe according to data standards. Confirm the specifications are established in line with data standards
- Champion and facilitate appropriate use of the specification data
- Maintain Shelf Life data for all packaging recipe layers which supports inventory and order management needs
- Subject matter expert on assembly specifications derived from assembly recipes
Bill of Materials Preparation
- Analyze final recipes for completeness and correctness to ensure delivery of first-time correct recipe content to ensure no changes are required in downstream Bill of Materials and Product Costing steps.
- Authorize release of recipe data through PDM to the Product Change Specialists for the Recipe to Bill of Material Sync step
- Champion and facilitate appropriate use of the data that fall within the respective domain.
Data Validation and Quality Review
- Upholds the Company data standards for recipes, assembly specifications, and bill of material which requires engaging stakeholders across R&D, Global Business Services (GBS), Supply Chain, and the Commercial groups
- Process expert on recipes and specifications. Engages with project teams during system and process improvements to ensure appropriate use of recipe and specification data.
- Identifies process and system gaps, recommends, solutions to address and supports implementation of imporvements
Minimum knowledge and skills
- Functional & Domain Knowledge – product recipes, materials, specifications & product/packaging assembly (preferred)
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes with a working knowledge of recipe development, materials management, bill of materials, and product costing

Education
Bachelor’s degree required
Experience
1-2+ years of systems related work experience, preferably in CPG, Product Lifecycle Management
2-4 years of business experience preferred
Product data management experience a plus
SAP materials and bill of materials management experience a plus
